Awesome rides!

Welcome and oh, I noticed you received Henry Ford's memo to his customers during the early days of mass production. He is quoted as saying: "you can have a car painted any color that you want so long as it is black”. LOL. I love black color in cars too. I think they look elegant

That quote was used in an episode of pawn stars I am watching!

Before I get to much credit for being color savy.. I should admit that the Jeep SRT8 was called 'steel blue' and the viper was called 'viper slate gray' ... so neither of these in person looked at all black, but I admit in the photo it sure seems that way. HOWEVER, the GTR and the FX50 are DEFINITELY Black. So right now, yes all my cars are black :)

Welcome to :iS: all things FX:top::top: And yes very jealous of your collection:smile (2):

Sorry it has taken me a while, but dealing with the camera to download the photos off it always seems like such a pain in the ass ... that I procrastiante.... and sadly.. yes, I am an IT guy... lol..

Here are the photos of the FX50. This is right after I had full front Clear bra done: Full Hood, Full Fenders, Full Front Facia, Full side Mirrors, Lower Half of all Doors, and Rear Bumper. I told my wife she was NOT allowed to drive it until this was done. So I took the 'before Hannah got it' photos. :) Here they are:

oh and yes, thats plastic sheeting on the walls, as I wash the cars inside the heated garage during the winters and it stops the water from hitting the drywall :) Works like a champ in the winter. During the summer I take it down.

Thanks!! anyone wondering where the GTR is in the photos... its there :) (well ok only 1 can you see a bit of it) Its looking down on its sibling.

Is that a double lift? Also a tool chest up there? Definitely need more garage pics.
Everything looks really nice except for the chrome pillar covers. I'm not a fan of those.

It sure is (two car lift so I can lift 2 cars at the same time, which I have done), I used to have TWO 1 car lifts, but the posts in the center of the garage were a nightmare. This design I have now is perfect, although 10 times more expensive then a single car lift :( I have other photos up that show it better. But I've converted one of the spots to a pretty hard core home gym :)

So I can only park 3 cars in my garage now .. lol.

And yes, I agree with you all on the chrome pillar covers, but the wife actually likes them, because of all the other chrome crap that actually comes with the car stock. Please note I DID NOT install them, or have them installed, the dealership did that along with etching all glass with my vin, and other oddities, that I didnt have to pay for when I bought the car.

Again wife likes it, its her car, so I'll let them stay for now.

Oh actually going to install the tow system package I bought from Sewell today, so I'll see what the Fx50 looks like on the lift today. We dont expect to tow a damn thing, but since we live in the city and not everyone has mutual respect for each others cars, we have to protect the rear from some of the jackasses who use bumpers as 'distance determinators.'

Once thats done, her car is complete and I can start focusing on my next toy :)

Since there is some interest in seeing the garage photos, and possibly the cars that it has housed, I thought I'd just include some random photos I have from my photobucket account. I dont think any of them are anything special, but it saves me from having to actually go take more photos :)

These 3 used to live happily together in the garage, at any one time 2 on the ground, one on the lift:

Shot of the Garage and lift, with GTR and Viper in it, with 1/2 the aluminum floors installed, and prior to full mounting of tool chests on the wall:

Interesting shot of the 3 cars 'roof' profiles:

Viper on Lift, with Lift floors out and GTR below it:

Viper on the lift, GTR below it, giving a sneak peak at 3 of the small tool chests, the much larger one is below the two, and of course a ton of Gladiator shelving to hold more of the junk, and my Dewalt air compressor. All of this stuff is at least 12 feet off the ground below, so you cant get at any of it, unless your on the lift:

Shows you the height of my garage relative to the cars that park in it :)

I put the Fx50 on the lift today so I can start the install of the rear tow hook system, and I was SHOCKED about how restrictive the exhaust it. Holy shit, at one point it X 's into a section that honestly cannot be more then 2 inches in diameter. I am blown away at how restrictive the exhaust is on this thing. I KNOW there is power to be had by going with dual 2 or 3 inch piping front to back, and avoiding the bottle necking that happens when it brings them together into one pipe and then back out into two. (for others who might try to school me on the principles of the X pipe, I understand it, but necking it down to 2 inches diameter is fucking nuts. I bet there is at least 10hp loss due to that restriction alone.

Dont get me wrong, the car is nice and quiet... but I doubt I can let a known restriction survive for very long in my garage :)

Its the wife's car.. but since I bought it, I can mod it... or at least thats what I tell myself :)

I'm been interested in a good FX50 setup for awhile now and still nothing that I'm liking before I spend my money. I HATE the way the borla looks. Can't justify paying that price for something I don't like the looks of. I had borla on my cobra and loved it both sound and looks. Invidia you have to custom modify for the FX50 and it can come out crooked and relying on shop's experience even after spending $1,000+ on just the exhaust. I can't believe we don't have better options from del known companies.

So what are your thoughts on what you may do?

First thing I would do is swap out the interior lights to LED's:smile (2):

By the way pictures of "said wife" or you don't have one :top:

Well, I know I can fix some of the immediate issues with the exhaust with some solid piping that I can get from Summit. It will be a custom one off, but it will 'look' stock, but certainly not sound it. Hmmmmm.. I could knock out the 2nd cat too, to free up power, and just leave the primary ones in there, but thats a bit sketchy, I'd hate to figure out I 'hate it' because its not reversable.

I have a muffler in walking distance on Western Ave in the city, so I can actually do all of this in my own garage taking to them only the parts I need welded AND making sure its RIGHT, vs some of the shit shops do when they dont feel like uninstalling a part to do a proper weld around it.

This is old hat to me, I made my Viper exhaust custom by seeing restrictions and removing them. My configuration allowed the car to make over 720 rwhp, (with a ton more mods) but it shows I know how to make an exhaust 'flow.'

Really got me thinking here, I could mock up some of the stuff I need tonight since its already on the lift..

I guess I was really hoping someone had already figured this out, and I could just buy something off the shelf. Oh well, not against doing it myself I guess.

Hhahah... uh she doesnt like when I do that. And trust me... I have :) I'm kinda not allowed to do it anymore. It was nothing bad, she just doesnt get the 'car forum' thing, and she sure doesnt want her photo plastered on one. lol. Rest assured, her estetics and intelligence are on par with or are better then my car collection :)

That's terrific you have the experience and the place to do this all from your place in Chicago. Who knows, maybe one day I'll have not a Borla or Invidia exhaust, but a custom cat Jon exhaust under my FX??? hint hint ;))))))
