Welcome to IS.

Nice GTR man, since you are in Chicago you can meet the FX crew. Also, I will love to ride in that GTR I've never been in one.

Welcome Again, Jon!

I think you're better off not sitting in it otherwise you'll be visiting the bank that same week! ;)

You guys should race for pink slips. Of course in snow since it is winter! Hahaha ;)

Ha! I welcome the challenge! The GTR smokes the wifes previous AWD SUV (SRT8 Jeep) in the snow, so I'm willing to bet the FX50/35 would have its hands full in an excelleration test against the GTR in the snow.

Otherwise, of course it would be no contest on dry pavement :)

Hopefully no one took offense to that.. lol.. I was not trying to 'own' someone. Let me be really clear, the GTR's winter setup is a set of BLIZZAKs, and yes, its absolutely hands down THE most phenominal vechicle I have ever owned in the snow. NUTS right?

Its becauase the AWD is so advanced and intelligent, you can actually see it transfering power to the front, through the grand turismo 'display' unit (you really have to see this, if you have never seen it before), and it applies brakes to a wheel that slips while giving power to the ones that grip. Its nuts. Most cars just judder and kill power, the GTR says 'nah, I got this' and still allows you to accelerate in a slippery situation and wont give up till it gets you where you want to be.

NOW, the only thing that will slow this car down, is a snow drift, I cant defy physics, if the snow is to high, and my car is too low, I cannot (or likely will not) go blasting through a snow drift/bank just to get through it.

Seriously, anyone know where we can get the cars together and legally do a bit of an excelleration contest on a snow covered roadway/dragstrip/airport/parking lot? I did this very same thing in Decatur IL when I was out there on business, it was a BLAST, I TRIED to get the car to slide out of control, and I couldnt do it. The computers actively managed everything.

Well it's two cars with similar AWD systems, one is lighter and more powerful. Is the Jeeps AWD good though?

Oh, and I probably shouldnt say this, but just so you dont think I think the GTR walks on water, I think its one of the ugliest super cars in the world. It basically looks like a nissan maxima with a body kit (to me). If someone asked me what I liked about the GTR, it would be that it has more utility then any supercar I've seen. It has a real trunk, can fit 2 adults and 2 kids, drives in snow, rain, and sunny days about better then anything I've seen. It is a 'point and click' car. Point the steering wheel where you want to go, click the gas and it gets you there.

What don't I like about it? Its looks. :(

The Viper makes you feel like a rockstar when driving it, but its ONLY good on sunny days. And its a point and pray car. You point the steering wheel where you want to go, hit the gas, and pray you can manage the wheel spin, rapid acceleration and rear end happy handling. However, if you get it right, NOTHING compares to its excitement and capabilities...

Ha. We is a friendly bunch here. The ";)" after owned meant I'm poking fun, and jdTrader knows it. Although he's still owned ;)

Quite honestly, it was suprisingly good. Given that it has 420hp and 420tq and was sub 5000 lbs. I believe 4800 lbs.

But you pretty much had to turn off active handling (or the equivient of partially defeating it, as you couldnt COMPLETELY kill it), if you drove yourself into a snow drift or drove in a section that was not packed snow. Because the system would try to kill power and apply brakes if your wheels slipped to much.

The GTR does not suffer from this, icy ally ways, packed snow, unchartered territory, it just applies power to where it gets grip. I felt the jeep's approach was mainly to kill power until it could must up enough traction to get the car out. Again the GTR says, 'nah I got this.'

Jeeps been doing AWD/4X4 for a very long time, I was surprised to see the GTR being more capable.

if the acceleration in the snow comparison is going to go down...i want to be there! hopefully we can get that done soon!!! I am also very anxious to see the GTR!

I'm sure it would be no contest , Godzilla will take it hands down, just as you say.It would be great to see though. If it does go down, take vids so some of us others can drool over that monster.

Awesome rides!

Welcome and oh, I noticed you received Henry Ford's memo to his customers during the early days of mass production. He is quoted as saying: "you can have a car painted any color that you want so long as it is black”. LOL. I love black color in cars too. I think they look elegant
