Got my fx45 3 days ago.

Hello I just stepped into my (new to me) 2003 fx45 it has 128,500 miles on it and is loaded
I have been in the Mitsubishi Evo world for past 7 years and traded this past weekend.
I did and will do all the mechanics to my vehicle.
I have done some searching an have a few questions.
1 I have the stealth sub in the back left side of trunk
This is aftermarket I'm assuming it is a fostgate sub however I Cannot find an amp??


2 my engine has the slight knocking from passenger side I've read this is normal however knock is still scary should I be worried? Knock goes with rpm but exhaust drowns out after 2500 (running 5w 30)


3 I'm replacing the fan underneath dash as it has the common bearing issue
Just stating it was bad when I got it
4 where is best place to buy iPod Axcess or hookup unit?

also I have one question I really!! Need answered, that is I have all the wire hook ups for an amp in the spare tire area, however he the low level input wires going to bose amp Sonia need to wire RCA ends to them
i have read many how to's but do not fully understand how to wire the black & white to the RCA wire???

congrats on your new FX.. it seems you have to do some maintenance on it.. once you do that it'll be good.. welcome to the site!
 
Justin, welcome to :iS2:

1) Most likely the previous owner took the amp. You will have to tab into the stock sub wiring with an aftermarket to drive the Fostgate sub. Nice to have the WickedCAS sub enclosure!

2) That knocking noise is not good.
3) Is that the ventilation fan on the passenger side under the glove compartment? If it is, you're the first that I have heard of that it needs replaced.

The knocking scares me lol. But I have had a few people say it is kore of a flutter and some say its kknocking have heard of a part in the fuel system that can causes a fair knocking sound. But then again I might be in denial
 
Welcome to the forum and congrats on the car! You're gonna love it. I had the same knocking for a couple of months and then it just went away, I don't remember what I did to make it go away LOL. AMP like Andy said ... have fun!

Wondering what type of gas you or previous owner been putting in. I go with premium for sure!
 
hmm good point! I only go premium, and did the clean up of the system, that's when the knocking went away.
 
I run 93 only I always have had cars that call for it. And I have become accustom to shell.
i will try to post video later I work 3rds and won't be off until 630am !!!

Keep running the premium and keep up with the fuel and oil treatments, I would recommend the Sea foam every so often. Works good for me. Great to have another 45 member, welcome aboard!
 
Knocking isn't a good sign. Agreed with comments above to post sound clip (never very accurate but may help) would consider trying seafoam and/or http://www.auto-rx.com/ reviews on this (http://www.bobistheoilguy.com/)

Wait, the heater was the knocking sound?
