Dam man what happened? Hopefully everything was ok.
Hard to imagine how it could've turned into a bigger job. You misalign the templates during install?
LOL, The problem didn't arise from what I did.
Past history: When I bought the FX over 2 years ago, I could see there had been a repair on the rear bumper even though the Carfax came through clear with no accidents. It always seemed to flex a bit more than it should. I also had an issue with one of the rear parking sensors. I got the Dealer (Newmarket Infiniti) where I purchased it to do an adjustment on the bumper and the sensor fixed up.
I went to put on the rear Aero kit and first removed the rear splash guards, next I got out the templates and taped them on to mark the holes to be drilled, I tried to centre punch the holes and the drivers rear corner just flexed like crazy. After this I thought shit, this ain't right, I then pulled the rear wheel lip moulding and a bunch of tabs were broke. There was more wrong with the bumper then meets the eye.
A fellow I know in a nearby town runs a good, reputable body shop and I called him up and told him I want him to totally remove the back bumper cover and see whats up. I dropped it off and left it with him. I had to go out of town (5 hours away) to visit Karen's brother, he is extremely ill.
My Body shop called me up and told me all the stuff they found: one broken left rear bumper bracket, rear bumper cover had a split in it, left rear parking sensor was a mess and wrapped up in electrical tape, left quarter wheel opening molding was damaged where it mounts with the tabs, and the left rear light rim was damaged.
He told me it was a real crappy repair job for a rear bumper repair and he told me there was no other major damage, just a horrible repair job.
I told him to replace everything that was damaged (I am fussy)
He ordered and replaced everything but the parking sensor harness since there were none available in N America and it would be a while shipping it. He had one of guys rewire it and it looked good.
Since I was still out of town, I told him to install the back Aero piece since it was in the box in the back of the FX. He didn't charge me for the Aero install at the back.
In the end everything turned out well :good:.
One thing I will say is if you live in Ontario, Canada, stay away from Newmarket Infiniti. I had a few issues with them, and I would not let their shop near my car.
