Gas Mileage on FXs

I would use injection cleaner, but how much are those cleaners (around $3-6 a bottle) compared to the amount of gas used (price paid for additive vs MPG increase).

So you are saving gas (and $0) but using more $$ for additives

Lower it, maybe clean your fuel injectors, K&N air filter... be easy on the throttle... drive on the highway at 60-65 mph instead of 70-75... take off slowly from stop-lights, try to coast to red lights as much as possible instead of going 40mph up to a stop light and then brake really hard :tongue:

If you do all of these, 20-22 mpg is nowhere near unrealistic. I drove like a granny for about a week straight and averaged 24mpg with 60/40 highway/city mixed driving.
 
Mostly highway driving - 18.8 mpg, according to the computer. It increased about .3 mpg after my Intake mod, but not at all after my exhaust mod. In fact I noticed my tires are a little low, which could hurt mpgs since the exhaust mod was done. This is with 93 Octane fuel - which also makes a difference in mpg. The difference in cost for the higher octane is completely offset by gains in mpg in my experience.
 
Gas Milage on FX's??

hey guys for the past month i was keeping track of my gas milage and came to the conclusion that i pump gas every 5 days and with gas being $2.37 per gallon for mid grade im trying to figure out what i can do to save gas and/or extend the milage for a tank of gas. i typically get about 327 miles on a full tank of gas. is that about right or should i be getting more?
 
i get an average of 15mpg; suburb driving/ semi heavy foot

i've given up trying to get better mileage with the fx. Driving with a light foot did not improve the mpg much imo, and still averaged around 16.5.

I heard that a k&n drop in can increase mileage by 1-2, lowering your car if you constantly use the highway. But the best fix of course is in your right foot
 
Oh man, the 89 octane gas does NOTHING for your car.......you might as well just pump 87 gas!!

I always use 91 octane, slightly more expensive but you do get higher mileage. I average 19.8 mpg driving non-aggressively. It's worth the money since you do "feel" more power with 91.....try it!
 
I get about the same mileage as pmanliu with about the same driving evironment. Mileage is not good but even if I got it up to 17-18 mpg it would still be not good. Then again I didn't buy a prius.

If you want to optimize mileage go easy on the right foot or trade in the FX.
 
forgot to add.. one thing that did help me ALOT in my gas mileage was cruise control. I usually use it when the road is relatively flat without huge hills. It helps a lot

well i drive with cruise control every chance i get but i guess my foot is to blame lol:laugh: thanks guys
 
Wow, I drive about 5 miles to work and then some highway. Mostly hilly country roads. I have a 2010 AWD with only 1100 miles and have gotten a little over 20 on both tanks I have filled up with (came with a full tank)...On the thruway with the cruise set at 70, setting it just before the on ramp, I have gotten as high as 24 for the half hour straight thruway cruise...Sounds like this is better than most... I have been using 87 octane.

u are lucky, gas is about $1 more out west
 
u should only put surpreme gas . and i installed a k&n drop in and i have lowerd my car on H&R springs and gas mileage is better .
