G37 / FX50 Akebono Brake Retrofit

Hi all, new to this scene and you guys are awesome. Great info and too much to digest but slowly getting there.
I am planning to attempt this upgrade on my recently purchased 04 FX which needs a brake pad and rotor replacement.
I'd assume you can source out the needed parts from infinitiofscottsdale or infinitipartsusa (These are what i've picked-up from this therad if there is better alternative place please point me to the right direction), but where can I get Turbocad's balljoint adapter? I've read the entire post but I've must've missed it and I haven't had a chance to PM Turbocad due to being newb here (working on my post count here :P)
Thanks for all your help and input !!

Thank you fxlr8 for the quick reply, I just found my answer from one of old turbocad's post in this thread.
this was post from 2009 hope he still produces the kit. I'll PM him also.

Thank you

"if anyone wants this kit, paypal me $70 +$8 shipping in the USA to turbocad6 at mindspring dot com, include your address & a note with your payment that this is for the fx50 brake adapter kit & I'll get this out to you... I don't know if I'll ever do another batch of these, I'll see how it goes, but if anyone wants them they are available now...

please direct your questions to this thread if you can, as my PM's are always close to full & it's easier for me to deal with support for these here..."

Word of advice, best to pm turbocad first before making payment. His price might had changed since 2009's original post.

Thanks Soonster for the advice.
Yes, I've PMed turbocad and waiting for his reply.
I'm pretty sure price has jumped a bit from 2009 due to inflation and cost of production.
I'm just hoping it is available and price hasn't jumped too much. :smile (2):

I aslo am getting ready to do the upgrade on my 04' fx45. The final peice that was missing was Turbo's kit that I got in the mail last week. Now I just need to find some free time to do the install and im done with brakes. I ended up ordering a set of Ferrodo race pads for the front and rear and also got a set of Goodrich stainless brake lines and going to top it off with motul brake fluid.

I'm planning on a Centric cross drilled and slotted rotor upgrade [F+R] and Stoptech SS brake lines [F+R] and just stumbled upon a set of 2011 G37s Akebono calipers that come with pads and lines. I drive an 08 FX35 AWD and have looked through some of this thread and was wondering about buying these calipers. Would that FX50 kit work for this or is this impossible for me? In other words, "what do I need to make this happen!!!!!" haha I want these pretty bad since they look so sick and would complete my brake upgrade pretty well!

New to forum. Just recently bought an FX37 2013. Curious if anyone has heard of pbbrakes.com? If so have used there brakes on an FX35 before? Seems like there brake kits are good cost effective replacements to the Brembo kits, but I want to hear what the forum has to say. Thanks

Front Akebono will be direct bolt in with some new hardware. For the rear you need both knuckles from FX50, and Turbocad's special adapter . Plus of course you need new FX50 rotors and pads.

Man, this is the second time reading through this entire 29 page thread (I want to do this bad). I can get the calipers from a guy near me and I am getting new rotors soon.. so for just the fronts I can basically just buy the rotors for my 08' fx35 and these will bolt up with the brake line bolt modification? I live in MA and travel to NY from time to time to visit family. I noticed that Turbocad is located in BK which wouldnt be too much of a problem for me to get there and maybe get an install scheduled?

Im planning on getting these and was just questioning myself on why the ad said it would fit FX from 2008-2011. Arent the 09 rotors much bigger? would I need to buy the 09+ rotors for just the front?

If you are planning on installing all 4 Akebono calipers, then yes, you need all 4 new rotors from FX50, there are bigger than stock(both front and rear). As far as front install you need that bungee bolt, I think how you call it. It's described here somewhere in this thread.

PS I can hook you up with StopTech drilled and slotted rotors and StopTech or MU Project pads. We also have 2-piece DBA drilled performance rotors. Let me know if you need any parts.

Oo okay I see. Im ordering new rotors, pads and the lines regardless if I can still get the g37s calipers off of the guy so i was wondering if I got them for an 09+ fx can i still use my calipers now and then do the upgrade at a later tim where all i would need is the akebonos and that rear knuckle and TC part?

Unfortunately the FX50 rotors will be to big for a stock 1st generation FX calipers and won't fit. So, you need to upgrade everything at the same time.
