G37 / FX50 Akebono Brake Retrofit

Actually, it's a 'Mitutoyo digital vernier caliper':wub:

Crap! I didnt even realize the corner had been created. At one moment it was an idea, now a reality. Awesome!

update:

I was able to do this swap today. I drove home on the new 09 brakes in the rear. only reason the fronts aren't on is the bolts are back ordered & I haven't had a chance to source other bolts yet.

we are not out of the woods yet, there are still a few minor things that I have to iron out with Joe, few misc bolts & hardware type stuff. few parking brake issues...

the ball joint for the 09fx is indeed different from the 03-08's & even though infiniti uses a ball joint seat as a separate part, we will still need to go with a custom part like I've shown on the previous illustrations... I did try to install the 09 upper control arm, it does mount up but the geometry is a bit off, so this is not a solution no matter what. a custom machined ball joint seat is what is going to make this happen as an only practical solution...

so what does this mean? well, it means that #1 there will definitely be an 09 retrofit & this will definitely be available to all, but #2, there will be a delay of a few weeks at least while the new ball joint seat is designed & manufactured for us...

John's forever dirty .. that's a sign of a hardworking man. Keep up the good work man ... :top::top:

actualy I'm not used to getting this dirty... I was going to send it out & have my mechanic do it, but there are so many things that are not direct bolt on & there are a few issues that I winded up having to do it myself anyway... my mechanic woulda just called me & said "it don't fit" had to do some alterations & fabrication...

man, between doing my headers & now this, I feel like a mechanic again:smile: for the record, I am NOT a mechanic anymore, I'm a bodyshop dude now:cool:

nice promotion and nice work, I need to see it in person tomorrow.:top:

well, fronts are on... so now the complete 09 FX50S brake setup is on my 03 FX, we should have this finalized & available real soon. I broke them in & beded them a bit tonight, there not even fully broken in yet but the stopping power over stock is already a night & day difference... I'll really be able to give a review after at least a few days, when there fully broken in... I had smoke pouring out of all 4 corners tonight & so far these brakes feel pretty good View attachment 153313
