G37 / FX50 Akebono Brake Retrofit

hey sergey, yeah, gotta find out shipping to moscow for you man, sorry for the delay, I'll def find out for you...

fas as machining bolt holes I'm not sure how you mean? the bolts don't line up & I haven't seen any way to do what your saying, but haven't looked at this for a long time too, curious to see what you mean...

Hi, I have a 2009 FX50s. Planning on upgrading to AP racing or Rotoras front and rear kits after this winter...so say around end of march 2011. Will have my FX50s akabono break kits for sale if anyone is interested. That being said..i guess it'll be front and rear calipers and rotors.

Just wanted to post this up to get a feel how much i can get for the OEM parts to fund my BBK. Thnx :smile (2):

BTW, anybody tried to swap rear shields?
I think that if they're just swapped left to right then there will be no need to cut them at all.
Covering part of the shield will face inside car and will not interfere rotor.

Excuse me, but I think AP woun't help. Try to increase skills instead.
Periodically, I'm driving FX50 on RACE TRACK and have no difficulties with akebono brakes.

Errr.. thnak you for your comment but who said anything about me racing it? If i wanted to race, i'd be taking out my honda 600RR and probably get a better rush on it than u driving the 50 on the track.
I'm running 24" on my truck and the small stock rotors look hedius thru the wheels. My main reason is to run bigger rotors and figure mind as well "go big or go home" by upgrading the the entire braking system.

is this the same as the G37s kit?? will it bolt up to the 09 FX35??

Yes it's the same caliper/rotor. It shouldn't pose any problems bolting up, but something may need a little modification like brake line bolts shortening like the 1st gens. I am not sure though, it'll be trial and error unless someone else accomplished it and know for certain.

u'll need FX50 rear rotors instead of g37 (due to the parking brake)

from the dealer.... most buy from http://www.infinitipartsusa.com

Forgive me if I missed someting ( I have tried my best to read through all the pages on this)

Please correct me if I'm wrong:

The front calipers are the same for 2010 FX50 and G37 and new from inifinitipartsusa they are $238 each?

The front rotors are also g37 or fx50

Basically (except maybe some brake line stuff) the front caliper and rotor just bolts right on ?

I did see the parts list but the part#s do not appear on the infinitiparsusa site.

Thanks guys

to me best option is to use the stoptech line, it comes with shorter bolts.. the bolts are short enough that instead of having to really shorten them more you only need to ream the center tip hole a little bit with a drill bit... I think I have a picture of the bolt tip chamfered somewhere in this thread, I'll look for it when I get a chance. if the bolt is not altered at all it can still kind of work but it will bottom in the hole as it's tightened.. better to bevel the tip so it doesn't bottom when it's tightened..

here's the post you're referring to: ///99008&postcount=303

yeah, that's it... thanks bro... & I highly recommend doing that over just installing them as is... even if it does work without doing this, the bolt bottoming can cause the orifice to compress down a bit & also the interference could cause a metal shaving... you will wind up compressing the aluminum a bit to get the seal without doing this... def better to chamfer the opening like I showed there for a perfect non interference fit :)

so, after reading the threads and going to infinitipartsusa.com site, it looks like it wouldn't matter what year the G37s calipers came from? e.g. would the front calipers from an '08 G37s be a direct bold on for, lets say a '10 FX35?

they will all have the exact same part number & be the exact same part in the front. rears are not completely the same though, there is a small & large emergency brake setup. the suv's using larger than the cars. the calipers & pads are the same, but the rotors are not, because of the larger ebrake.

Two points here:

1) the front calipers also seem the same for hte 370Z

2) as far as the front caliper/brake line/banjo bolt thing is concerned, is the orifice/cone seat inside the caliper not simply pressed in? could you not just remove it?
