FX4BR

Spent the morning detailing the FX. I love my FX. Part of me would die without it.

Thanks guys! I was just thinking about how far it has come since the day I was rear ended.

My driver seat is turning black because of the dye in my jeans. It is reeeeeally hideous actually... considering having the whole inside redone in black. That'll probably come with a hefty price tag :/

Nice composition of the before and after pictures. You have done an amazing job in the transformation of a stock FX to call it your own unique FX. :good: :good:

Got a warning from a cop today. He said "Do you realize that your whole car is illegal?" He pointed out my front window tint, windshield tint, headlight tint, taillight tint, reflector tint, and front plate. Said that if he sees me again, he will pull me over and ticket me for it. So I'm trying to decide how I'm gonna fix the situation :/

for windshield tint, llumar makes a clear windshield tint.. i mean its a start lol.. for the headlight and taillights he has no case cuz its not film but sprayed on.. the rest is on you lol

Doesn't he have a case because it is still dark? I don't they care if it is tint, paint or poo that covers it, if it diminishes the effect that's what he looks for right?

That could be a decent ticket you are looking at. Tough spot to be in.

Lame... Where did you run into this cop? hopefully outside your normal range.
I think the law just says you cant modify from stock. but really it should specify how bright the lights have to be. so If you tint, but increase the output of the light it should be allowed.

What does the "clear windshield tint" do?

I think the window tint the fine isn't that big, its a fix it ticket, but then you have to have it removed, and have them to sign off that it was removed. That would be the hard part. not sure if light tint is a fix-it ticket.

Did he stop you during the day or at night? If having the lights on makes it less noticeable during the day. you might drive with lights on so it doesn't look over tinted. If he stopped you at night because the light output looks too dim, I would throw in brighter bulbs on the replaceable lights, and that should lower the chance of them hassling you. Also run with your fogs on at night if the front looks dim.

Overall if the light output is bright enough, It hopefully wont draw attention, and you tell them you compensated for the tint, hopefully they'll let you off again.

License plate I think might not be a fix-it ticket. If you got the feeling that it was his main concern, you might toss one on to keep you as less of a target.

He's here in La Jolla. I see him almost every morning on my way to work, and he said he's been watching my car for about a year now.

It was 6am and my lights weren't on. They appear the darkest then. I am fixing the headlights because I already am working on a new set, but when both are on everything looks fine. Good idea to drive around with the lights on.

The one thing I am leaving for sure is the side window tint. I almost always drive around with the windows down, but wasn't at the time because of the morning dew.
