fx45 valve cover leaking

Hey Eduardo, sorry to hear your having these issues with getting your engine replaced.

Seems crazy to me that you would pay for, I'm assuming, a jdm low mileage replacement motor and that they would switch out the valve covers. Of course I'm also assuming the engine came with the valve covers on it. It doesn't make any sense to me that they wouldn't be on the engine and I personally would reject an engine that came that way.

Gerald.

I agree with you Gerald. It truly is a ridiculous situation. I took possession of the car on the 9th after they had told me the valve covers were leaking. On the 11th I returned the car to the shop after driving it for less than 80 miles. During those 80 miles I experienced some jerking while slowing down at a light (the rpms gauge was jumping between 3k and 6k while decelerating to a stop light.), a rattle coming from under the car at 5100k to 6100k rpms in every gear, and some annoying mechanical fan noise.

Additionally, they have changed their story about the leaking spark plug seals being the cause of the spun bearing in the last motor. The service advisor/manager is now saying that replacement of the covers was merely a recommendation and not a current issue. However when I took possession of it I asked to speak with a mechanic (Because of course, the manager that I deal with wasn't working that day.) and he mentioned the leaking valve covers and even recommended I come back in half the time of a regular oil change to check on the wear. He even said which cylinders specifically were the ones to worry about.

The day I returned my 45 to the shop I took one last check of the oil and inspected the motor a bit more carefully. It seems they've even lied to me about reusing my old valve covers. (Which never made sense to begin with.) The motor that is currently installed has markings that resemble inventory numbers from the retailer that the motor was purchased from. I realized that the entire motor had the same paint and markings all around, meaning the valve covers that were installed had to have come with that re manufactured motor as a complete package. To support that claim I consulted my dash camera, and not to my surprise, I noticed the motor they had just taken out sitting with a set of valve covers installed.

Perhaps the manager that warned me about the leaking spark plug tube seals was trying to sell me on something to profit from the time my car was sitting in a bay. But it's very clear there is some miscommunication or deception going on. So far it's been a week since I returned the car with my bullet points of issues and I have not heard from them.

Here is a snap of what I believe to be the motor that I originally purchased, that spun a bearing, with a set of valve covers installed.
