FX45 electric fan conversion

Nice gains Logan! I still need to do the fan conversion mod and just been too lazy. Also, I wonderg what the difference is between the TS ecu reflash and your UPREV tune.

UPREV AWD tune 4.1.10. Tune was done by Kito Auto sport in Seattle. Cost was $500.00 (introductory price) FX spent about 2.5 hours on the dyno, price included multiple maps which sadly enough I do not use......The tune was worth every penny, hardest part was waiting for the other performance upgrades to be completed before I did the tune.

Sweet thank you, that gave me the info I needed. Looks like your version is Osiris Tuner which retails for 700 but has the ability to be tuned by the end user (someone who knows how to tune and will tune on a dyno, not a rought street tune).

The TS reflash is just that, there is no optimization for specific changes on a specific vehicle. His was tuned on a dyno by someone manipulating the air/fuel ratio specifically for his vehicle.

Here are the details...

An update on the mod - Quiet, zero issues, needle stays right where we set it, cold, hot, in traffic or not. So far bullet proof........

Awesome!

Great info, thanks!

nice work. finally someone did it using fx35 fan. i knew that fx35 fan will work, i figured out it two years ago and wrote it on the topic on org.
but since then the fx35 shroud with fans still laying around, dont have time to do it :(

Paying less than Lance -- Priceless.

The fan is an incredible deal. Though the one Lance bought from Parts Geek is vetted by the one and only Turbocad, so that is a fail-safe fan to get.

The fan I bought is the whole assembly, shroud, fan, motor, blades, etc... It is made by Silla and is part number SA6281.

I am fine trying this out at this price, even though I was warned not to cheap out on the fan. It looks the same to me... we'll see.

aiya should be on this... summer project I smell... :smug:

+1

Prices are good on the other parts -- price is AWESOME on the fan.

If you have a FX45 -- you might as well pick up the e-fan at $50+change shipped...

Like the idea of custom controlled temperature

From the org:

FX45's aux fan ECM (ECU) control:

1. The aux fan starts at full speed when the coolant temperature reaches 203F or anytime the A/C is on and the compressor loads up and the vehicle speed is below 25 or 50mph (see 2 & 3 below).

2. The fan shuts down when the coolant temp drops to 201F or the vehicle speed exceeds 25mph (adequate air flow across the radiator) and the coolant temp is between 203 and 220F).

3. If the coolant temp is above 221 F and/or the AC is on with the refrigerant pressure > 226.2 psi, both fans will stay on regardless of speed.

4. Both e-fans will be off below 25mph if the coolant temp is below 203F and the AC is on or off with the refrigerant pressure < 226.2 psi.

Paying less than Lance -- Priceless.

WTH is this?! =) I love bargain hunting but common sense tells me to resist going up against "the master of research" on parts pricing....

I will say this though, if own a 45 and you have any fears about the effectiveness of the electric cooling system it has been flawless on my ride. It holds to temp, It has been a 1.5 years now and I have never had an issue through hot or cold (not that Seattle should be considered a solid barometer of temperature extremes....)

It's not just the look you should be concerned with. The construction materials are just as important if not more so than the design. The term "plastic" is about as broad a definition as you could find anywhere. It's like saying a Coke can and the Titanic are both made from "metal"... There are also somewhat minor differences in the design and reinforcement between the ebay fan and the oem unit. Whether or not those differences will translate to a premature failure is anyone's guess. FWIW, here's an example of a failed ebay fan... CLICK Needless to say there could be a lot more than $52 on the card table.
I think the fact that it shuts off after 25mph will probably prevent a situation like the one in the NICO thread. *fingers crossed*

Makes sense. I'll be the test pilot, so we'll see. This at least is an OEM replacement, not just a universal fan that the other person used. So hopefully there are some quality controls.

There is a warranty and I did call up the company -- they do have good customer service. I called to find out more about the fan since I was surprised at how cheap it was.

test pilot

Godspeed Captain.
