FX45 electric fan conversion

logan, did you leave the controller in the drivers side covered access as shown, or did you mount it inside the cabin (and if so, where?).

thanks,

The shop and I went back and forth over where to locate the controller and after a thorough inspection of the covered access we placed it there. Plenty of room and easy access for tuning if need be. If you check it out that section closely its fairly well closed off with rubber seals to the hood and all surrounding plastic sections also have rubber seals. In cabin would of course be the most "moisture free" environment but check it out, its pretty tight. I would never consider mounting it on an open firewall or fenderwell.....

Great job Logan..

Thanks Bert - It did makes a difference and with the 45 it all adds up, unless of course you choose to follow the path of FI then its like "6-8 horsepower? ehhhh"

Lance -- I found this online. I see you purchased the PAC-2700 and the 3/8"" NPT temp sensor.

Did you buy the second relay? This description says you need to purchase it for dual fan applications.

**The use of a second relay RLY-1 (0-30 amp) or RLY-3 (0-70 amp)(not included) will be required for dual fan or two speed fan operation.

The PAC-2700 features a 24-month warranty against manufacturer defects!

The following optional items can also be ordered at additional cost:
RLY-1: for dual fan applications, 30 amp relay - $9.95
RLY-3: for dual fan applications, 70 amp relay - $29.95
SEN-04-1: 1/8" NPT temp. sensor - $13.95
SEN-04-2: 3/8" NPT temp. sensor - $13.95
SEN-04-4: 1/2" NPT temp. sensor - $13.95

Good call Ed, I completely forgot to mention the 2nd relay. The shop had one on site and just kicked it in for free as part of the install. They used a 30 amp and said that the 70 would have been over kill.

Functioning perfectly, no issues at all. Needle never moves, engine never gets hot in either traffic or on longer trips at 75+, engine is quieter.....been a good mod.

On a side note - With the exhaust, intake, the e-fan, a shift kit and the UPREV tune to tie it all together, RIDE went from 250 WTQ to 317 WTQ (I posted this result in an unrelated thread). Huge difference.....and a 1.25 MPG gain in city!

wow thats a huge gain, got me itchin to do the same mods now:tup:

Did this on my M3. I love it. I really only feel a difference when pulling away from a light in hot weather. normally I guess the fan would be fully engaged and so it really slows the motor but now it pulls away cleanly; even with the heat soak from the open CAI intake!

That's amazing! Where is the dyno sheet posted? I searched and couldn't find anything.

Been awhile......before and after.....

Since then I changed my tire size to 295/40/20 on all four corners. The smaller diameter rubber noticeably improved the gearing/torque. Probably not so good for the top end but ehhh....

Logan that is awesome. I have questions and will try to keep it short. Basically I see that you need an intake, exhaust, E-Fan kit, and UpRev to gain that power. I believe that the shift kit just shifts faster and has nothing to do with making power, just changing the way it is delivered by faster/harder shifts.

Anyway on to the questions (hopefully you don't mind, plus it'll provide info for everyone with a 45)...
Did you have Osiris Standard done or Osiris Tuner?
If you did the Tuner, who tuned it for you?
How much did it cost?
How long have you had it?

Thanks!

UPREV AWD tune 4.1.10. Tune was done by Kito Auto sport in Seattle. Cost was $500.00 (introductory price) FX spent about 2.5 hours on the dyno, price included multiple maps which sadly enough I do not use......The tune was worth every penny, hardest part was waiting for the other performance upgrades to be completed before I did the tune.

*sigh* I think I've waited long enough for this mod. Time to start collecting parts so TC6 MotorSports can get cracking! :wink (2):
