Hello All,
Hope life is good for all of you.
Have a question for everyone and anyone that is willing to help!
So, last week I take the (2003) FX35 in for an Oil Change and Serpentine Belt at my same ol' mechanic before heading to Texas for the week on vacation. The belt squealed like crazy due to it being too loose. I fixed that in Texas. No more squeal.
I start heading back to the mountains and maybe 20 miles out of Texas, I start hearing a loud noise that sounds much like an extra engine is sitting in the bay. It only happened at highway speeds (45+ MPH) but persisted the entire trip and has continued the past few days back in the mountains. Never affected driveability on the way home, just weirded me out. But now the sound starts around 30 MPH. It's a loud buzzing, humming noise and the weird thing is when I slow down, the car kinda sounds like a hotrod slowing down. Hard to explain and the video I tried to take doesn't capture it because I'm on the dang highway. I had someone rev it, and it doesn't make a sound until it's actually in motion.
I was driving home from work today and it sounds like the Wright Brothers first plane is taking off under my hood. My car also felt a little looser/less stable on the highway too. It could be my OCD, but I can't be sure.
It's a 2003 Infiniti FX35 with 78000 miles on it. 20 inch Koenig Lace Wheels. No engine mods. Running Yokohama Parada Spec-X tires that are 3 months old and show no nails or signs of wear.
I will take it to the mechanic this weekend, but I am guessing wheel bearing???? Typical. I just go on vacation, get my bonus anddddddddddddd it's gone.
Thanks for any and all help!
