Is it possible to put a GT-R engine in an FX (specifically my 2005 45)? What would need to change? How much would it be? Has anyone done it?

Being curious :)

Maybe possible but its going to cost a lot of money. You can't just buy the engine. You need the tranny and a whole bunch of other things. I'm sure it will all be well over $40K

i don't see it happening. For that kind of money I'd rather get a real GTR

The Juke is better suited for a little ralley drift racer than the luxury (and more expensive new off the lot price) FX. I'm sure it can be done, but no one wants the pony the expense and immense work.

Don't forget how much it will cost you to maintain the GT-R:wink:. Brake job alone on GT-R cost close to 8 grand. Oil changes are $200-$500, transmission and differentials are $1000-$1500 and so on...

More than just the engine obviously. I doubt the FX transmission would bolt right up then there is the intercooler piping, intercoolers, ECU, both driveshafts, rear transaxle, specialized motor mounts, etc. In other words, it would be more beneficial to do forced induction on your current platform.

^This.

Another thing to consider is that your FX trans will only hold ~425hp when "fully built" by the only place that offers the service (Level10). Bone stock, the GTR motor already exceeds that limit. You'd be much better off selling the FX45 and installing twin turbos on an FX35.
