Engine is dead at 114000km (70,000 miles) 2009 fx50

His oil changes were done at the dealer. Whatever the dealer use. Valvoline, Castro?

But you can take in your own oil or else you can use the synthetic that the Dealer uses. In my case my Dealers (Infiniti and Gm for my truck) use Mobil 1.

Hey just for the record I had a great service experience with Markham Infiniti as well, have only been once but they will now be my go to dealer, and I have have many closer to me to choose from.

i beg to differ. had horrible experiences.

like all dealerships, markham infiniti will provide decent service when there is $$$. Horrible when it has to do with warranty.

Well I will defend them in my case, I was in for two issues, both warranty, the Speedo TSB, which was done a couple years ago and botched by Downtown Infiniti, Infiniti Canada agreed to cover it again under "Good will" plus I had the dash replaced under the extended warranty for bubbling issues. Markham was great, dealt with head office quickly, fixed my FX very fast and were a pleasure to deal with. They do get paid for the warranty work, lets not forget. Let see what happens next time I visit.

TSB is mandatory from infiniti of Canada. factory warranty isnt. Infiniti of Canada goes by what the dealer says when it comes to factory warranty.

I'm so glad to see that Canvap was able to help you out because Infiniti in Canada is a bunch of crooks! And Alta Infiniti isn't exactly the best dealership to use..they backed my car into a pole inside the service bay then parked it and said it came like that. RETARDS!!! This was on my first gen, my 2nd gen, I learned...dont' trust dealerships at all, if its something I can do, i'll do it myself, that covers 99% of things :)

With the new engine, do oil changes with the buddy at Nissan, keep the receipts, in case anything messes up, you are covered for that 1 year warranty.

On a side note, this is insider information, your engine failing like that is commonplace, not negligence due to oil, etc. Nissan/Infiniti replaces plenty of motors, they won't advertise it but if you have the right people on your side, they have no choice because their sales figures get affected by bad media coverage.

To the OP: wow. What a story and thanks for sharing. Glad to see that even though it took 5+ months that you got it resolved in your favor.

We leased our FX35 from Alta and took it there for service during the lease period. All in all, they treated me ok but Alta never really delighted me with their service nor did they make me feel that they appreciated my business.

Alta Infiniti is by far one of the worst dealers you could possibly deal with. They're a facade (All looks no brains). Nice building, stupid people. Us members here know more about the car than their most experienced mechanic. I've been there enough times and had enough issues with them that I had more knowledge about.

I made them look stupid in front of customers who were having issues with their cars after they took my advice and I don't work there!!! Ever since they revamped their building, the parts department is in the closet literally. They don't want you to fix your car, they want you to come in and believe parts no longer exists so you can give them your month's salary.

The service people in there are just clueless about anything and if you ask them something technical, they clearly have no idea what they're saying yet they act like they know it all.

If you like your car, go somewhere else and make sure you do your research on here. The best people I ever dealt with are at Dixie 401 Nissan. Yes Nissan because that group of people want your business and strive for it. Not like Infiniti, all show :P

Just read this post. Great news on getting your new motor! I'll be making a post on a similar experience here shortly :) Fortunately for me I was under warranty.

Moral of the story? Never give up.

Another interesting thing about warranties and the US (at least some states including Texas). The manufacturer is require by law to pay the dealer full list price for any parts/labor on warranty work. Dealers here LOVE warranty service, they make a fortune. They made about 6 grand on my repair. More on that in another thread... :D

Thanks. I decided I won't be going to Alta anymore. Thanks for the tip on 401 Dixie Nissan. My recent OEM purchases have been from Sherway Nissan (5 minutes from my house) and the kid behind the parts counter (Eric) seems to know what he's talking about.

Let's put it this way, when a dealer has to resort to putting on a show to get your attention, they obviously aren't getting the business. Sherway is great, I've dealt with them as well when they were at the old location, the guys there knew their stuff, friendly and they were always willing to work with you. They have that new location on queensway now and worked hard for it. I congratulate them!
