Enable EVERYTHING while driving

Hi all, I'm new to this forum having just purchased a 2012 LE FX35 for the wife.

I've actually created several plug and play bypass solutions for other Nissan/Infiniti cars and looking forward to doing the same for the FXs. Looking at the wiring diagrams of the FX35 it appears to be the same as the Murano, so it looks like it is just a case of creating FX based instructions :)

I'm also looking forward to making some other cool gadgets for the FX35.

This is my first post so I cant post links or photos but you can see some of my work at www dot carkitcompany dot com

welcome to the forum.

as a current owner of both a Murano and FX35, I can tell you some wiring is the same, some isn't. It depends which circuits and which gens (1st/2nd Murano and 1st/2nd FX)

I'm certainly interested in hearing about any products you could bring to market.

Well my wife's 2012 LE is now in pieces :) and the AV connector pertinent to the bypass wires is certainly the same as the Murano and I will be installing my remote bypass kit this afternoon. The advantages of the kit are:

1) It is plug and play, no wires to cut or splice
2) It is remote based so no switches to mount and added benefit of being able to pair the remote with homelink buttons on the mirror.

All installed and working :)

With the help of some of the photos on this site the installation was easy, the hardest part I found was removing the ashtray.

My wife now has a small 4 button remote:
  • Button one toggles the parking brake bypass - This can be configured to be permanently bypassed but this is ultimate stealth mode because when not activate the car is completely stock and undetectable.
  • Button two activates the speed sensor bypass
  • Button three activate the reversing camera without engaging reverse
  • Button four does nothing currently
Any of these buttons can be paired with the Homelink buttons on the rear view mirror.

I will post photos and videos when I reach the 10th post restriction.

Whats the parking brake bypass do?

Otherwise known as the DVD bypass, it fools the AV unit in to thinking the parking brake is on.

Most DIY mods just cut the wire and earth the AV end so that the AV unit always thinks the parking brake is on. I give a choice of permanent or activated by a switch. With the switch choice the unit behaves just like the stock factory car but when the button is pressed it fools the AV unit in to thinking the parking brake is on (regardless of whether it is or isn't) until the button is toggled again or the car is turned off.

Interesting...

This lets you watch dvds or something?

Correct, it allows you to watch DVDs or video from USB port etc. The standard behavior is that while playing a video sources as soon as the parking brake is released you will get a message on the screen that "The video will resume when the vehicle is stopped and the parking brake is on". Activating the bypass overrides this and the video is not interrupted.

bdl99 - I look forward to your DIY that you will be posting with pictures as it will help iS members tremendously. Thank you for your contributions.

To my knowledge, noone has ever yet to achieve enabling the reverse camera while in drive, only the front camera and the around view cameras. How is this accomplished? Which wire or wires did you manipulate in order to enable this? Lastly, how do you get to the reverse camera screen while you are driving? With the around view mod, you can access both the front and around view cameras simply by pressing the "camera" button on the dash, yet rearview camera is still inaccessible. What button or combination of buttons do you press to activate the rear camera?

Thanks and welcome to IS!!!

I did this a 18 months ago on the Nissan GT-R and the application is the same. On the back of the AV unit on the same plug as the parking brake and speed sensor wires there is a reversing signal wire. By applying 12V to the reversing signal wire but using diodes to protect the circuit and stop the 12V feeding back to the rest of the car the result is the AV unit thinks you are in reverse but the rest of the car does not so there is no unwanted byproducts.

The buttons I'm referring to are on the remote in my kit and not buttons in the car. Although the buttons on the remote can be paired to the Homelink buttons on the mirror so for example you could have one of the buttons on the mirror activating the rear camera while driving.

Think I can post a link now so here goes, this is the Murano kit that I installed in our 2012 FX35 LE yesterday.

I will post some video of the kit in operation in the FX35 later today when the wife comes back with the car.

Wow, good job on coming up with that idea! I will have to research the diodes and 12V application mechanism so that I can have this as well.

Here is a quick video

And one of the speed sensor bypass to allow NAV and Menu use

And one with the speed bypass programmed to Homelink button

To be fair I did.

I installed one of my kits that I have been offering for other Nissan cars for some time.

This is almost half the cost of the solution that was at the beginning of this thread, it does more and uses a remote that can be paired with HomeLink button.

Someone then asked how I achieved the rear camera while moving and I actually posted enough details for a DIYer to probably be able to do it and I hope you would agree a lot more than probably any other supplier would.

I'm happy to help anyone via PM but not going to post step by step details because I did that on the GT-R forum with the reversing camera kit only for other vendors to copy. I wouldn't have minded if they copied and charged less, because lets face it they had no R&D, but they actually charged twice what I do, go figure..

If you have already done the other bypasses I can see why you might be interested in just instructions. For anyone who hasn't, my intention was to offer a plug and play solution at a price that was reasonable enough that even those who may be willing to cut and splice wires wouldn't want to or feel the need to. I'm very comfortable cutting, splicing and soldering but wanted to create a solution that could be removed without a sign that it was ever there.

What I will also say is this isn't like the other camera bypass which just involves removing a pin. If you were to do it without my plug and play harness you would need to cut a wire in the harness and insert a diode in series and then create another wire tap in to that circuit with another diode.

Also as I have on the other forums I will support this forum with donations etc based on any orders I may receive as I understand there is no formal vendor status on this board.
