Didn't know this till my seat failed, but the motor control for sliding the whole seat forward and backward went out on the right side of the driver's seat. While I had the car at the dealership for new shocks, I had them look at this.

They tell me the motor is out and they don't sell just the motor - only the whole slide assembly, which they want $800 + labor to install. Not going to happen.

Anybody know where I can get the motor only? I'd rather just do the install on my own if I can find the part. I can look it up on Infinitiparts.com, but I was really hoping somebody has a spare from swapping out the seat or replacing the OEM seat in the past.

as far as I remember, you can't get the motor seperate. At least, not brand new.

This thread reminds me, I need to disable the moving of the seat when you turn the car off. I had it turned on hoping the motor would fail by 60,000 miles so I could get it replaced under warranty, but it didn't and i'm now out of warranty.

$800 PLUS LABOR??!!!?? That is insane.

I remember someone on here (maybe the russian with the custom body kit) mentioning that he had replaced his oem seats with those from an RS4. Maybe he still has them? You could probably ship the whole seat assembly from Russia for less than $800!

If not maybe you could find one that will work here:

Last year I found a junked 05 in the outskirts of Houston. Might try to head over there and have them pull the seat.

I was just hoping somebody would pipe up and say they had one they don't mind parting with. I'm sure I can figure out something on eBay or some other roundabout way. Just asking the 'Scene for da hookup hoping to get lucky. I'll post on the org and check into other Nissans that have the same seat rail.

So check this out. Took the FX back to the dealer because after my shock install, the car was pulling to the right. I filled out a survey from Infiniti saying I was not satisfied because they said they test drove the car and didn't notice a pull. It was obvious off the lot. So the advisor asks me to come back in free of charge so they can take a look.

I asked them to check alignment. Also, between 65 & 75mph, I had a steering wheel shake. I asked them to check wheel balance and rotor run-out. Balance was out on three of the tires but run out was fine.

Here's the kicker - they fixed my seat track, free of charge!!! Two weeks ago when I took it in to have them look at it and I was quoted $1200 for the fix - $800 for the seat track parts, $400 for labor. I waved off - too rich for my blood to fix a damn seat that was already in a good position for me. Then they, "throw it in" for free this time? Makes me believe they took a closer look and figured out it wasn't really broken. There must have been an object in the seat track, binding the motor OR the connector wasn't mated all the way when I had the seat reupholstered. Either way - they addressed every one of my concerns and I didn't have to pay a thing. I gotta say I'm surprised, and I'll definitely be going back just because of the act of good faith they just showed me. Puts me in a good mood. Cool.

That's awesome! Is there any way you can find out exactly what happened?

I gently probed to ask and the service advisor responded twice - "I took care of it". The service ticket actually says, "Replaced seat track, MISC INTERIOR". In my cup holder I found a golf tee, a nickel, a penny, a plastic water bottle cap and a listerine pocket pack. My guess is that one of these objects was wedged in the track, but maybe they really did replace the whole thing and I'm just being too conspiracy theorist. They earned future biz for sure.

haha nice jumbo!

dealer replaced my seat track and motor also late last year. The seat could move forward, but didnt know how to move backwards. Ultimately drove to the dealer with my seat almost all the way up haha

Is there a motor for the right side and the left side or does one motor gear both tracks? I'm having an issue where when I slide the seat forward the left side goes but the right side stays stuck so it actually twists the seat! I've disabled the motor upon exiting to prevent burnout for the mean time but my question above still stands. Is there any easy way to check the tracks for trash? I can barely see in there and can't feel it at all.

This was the exact problem I had. There's no easy way to check, though the dealership should be able to do that (determine if it's the motor or debris in the track).

IMO, if the dealer quoted you $1200 and then it turned out to be a golf tee in your track,. They should have apologized for missing the REAL problem the first time, not given you a vague answer like "I took care of it". The only time people do that is when they want you to think they did way more work than they actually did.

If on the other hand, they really did the $1200 fix,. That's a hell of a good faith effort!

Still, the "I took care of it" line makes me suspicious. Especially since he already knows you aren't just some shlub who wouldn't understand a real explanation. If they really did replace all that stuff for free, I think he would have told you ALL about it.

Yep - I agree with you. But trying to give them the benefit of the doubt. For the last two weeks I had accepted it wasn't going to get fixed, then they came through for me. The work order does list the work, but no part numbers. I have no official judgment other than what you have read here on IS.

Like I said - benefit of the doubt. We need to spread positivity and optimism in this world.

It's good that they took care of it for you. A litle suspect, but good nonetheless. My exeriences with Infiniti Clear Lake has been 50/50 thus far.

There is a guy out of California, that sells the 2 gears with a motor for $150...I have the same problem and I am about to order a set to fix it. The guy told me it would take about 2 hours to fix. Let me see if I can find that number again.
