Driver seat right side slide motor

I just got this problem myself. How many gears are there and where is the location? How do I know if I need a gear or a motor?

While moving the driver's seat backwards in my 04 FX35, the back of the seat hit a package on the rear floorboard and the resistance caused the plastic gear on the small motor to break. The seat would still move back and forth, but it did not sound good and the movement was not smooth. The quote from the dealer to repair it was something like $900! I purchased a new plastic gear on eBay for about $19 and replaced it myself. The seat works perfectly now! Simple DIY job. I think there are only 3 or 4 screws that have to be removed to remove the motor so you can get to the gear.

I was about to post a new thread, but found this one. I think I have a chunk of debris in the gear track. It tries to move but seems jammed. Is there a guide on how to get at it to clear it out? I have a warranty, but guessing if its because of debris they wont cover it. Might as well take a peek.

Simply remove plastic cap/cover at the 4 corners of the seat rails, remove the 4 15mm anchor bolts, and tilt the seat back to access the bottom of the seat.

Ok, so got to looking at this. Those plastic covers were a bit tricky to take off without breaking the tabs.

Looking around inside didn't find anything looking like it blocked the track. The kick guard was broken off, but don't think that was hindering movement.
I opened the cover to the motor attachment and found the plastic gear stripped.
Anyone know how to get a replacement?
How can I tell if there is something else wrong with the track? Or should I just replace the gear and hope it works?View attachment 11719View attachment 11720

Thanks guys

I took mine in for repair becuase my mom spilled coffee on the button on the driver seat. When I took it in, and asked about the seat switch, I told them, the button doesnt work and the seat moves forward and backwards (both sides), when I take the key out of the ignition.

Somehow, when I went to pick it up, they said the button works fine, but the seat is off the track and the right motor doesn't work -__-
I explained how it was not like that when it came in, and then they said it would be roughly $900 bucks to fix. Seems like that is a common trend for sure.

Can you shoot a link in here on ebay where you picked up that plastic gear?
