Well as for the "secret black box" , I know that the Nissan GTR has one that records absolutely everything , every trip you take, speed, g force of turns etc etc, so , coming from the same manufacturer, who knows what Nissan has put in our FX's. This could be a good way for them to track down milage clockers too...

And, as I mentioned in another thread, when I disconnected the battery to install my fogs, I was getting the SES light, and once I took it to the dealer they knew right away that the battery was disconnected all from the simple SES warning, so who knows ? I wish we had an Infini tech on the forum ;)

well im sorry for getting out of the subject.. can you guys tell me how can i make my fog lights turn on with out my head light on? and maybe having my daylight running light on with my fog lights? is it possible? thankssss

To all 09+ FX owners with parking sensors : installing HIDs in fog lights will cause front sensors act weird in rain ! Tested on 3 different 09+ fx and all the same result.

This doesn't apply to non-nav FX 09+

Anyone know?

Rewire?

Yes I had that problem too. Apparently it has something to do with the frequency the HID ballasts give off and interfer with the front parking sensors. It makes them beep when it's raining. I fixed it by extending the HID foglight ballast wires up to the engine bay instead. Works perfect now.

by any chance, will the computer diactivate the power towards the fogs once he sense that maybe the power plugs to the bulbs are inverted?

Like if i plug the power plug to the ballast in the wrong side???

ok here i go again...

tried to change the fog lights to hid and bang the system logs the lights..

i first tried with only one side..
pluged the hid and the non-hid bulb turn on..
so i switch the power plug from the ballast and once i turn on the lights bang the ther fog turns off locking the fog light system..

what can i do??
last time i had to take it to the dealer and not even 15 minutes and they said everything was ok..

Is the ecu locking the lights? how can i unlock it?

any input ill really appreciated

thanks

P.S. do i have to connect both ballast at the same time? could this be the problem?

What brand of of foglights are you using? Has nothing to do with the ECU. Besides the body control module (BCM) controls the fog lights. Sounds like the fog lights you bought are no good. I say return them for a different pair or another brand.

ddm...
test them already twice.. they all turn on...

Right now it happened the same thing as last time..
Fog light control doesnt work at all..

I even put the stock bulb back and nadaaaa...
What is that BCM? is that the correct name for the fog light know?

Any other input??

Thanks fireonic3 for the quick response..

KP Technology makes a little black box that allows you to turn your fog lights without turning on your headlights. Check out their site. KPTechnology.com

I don't see how this install is messing up so bad. If you bought a decent company hid kit, then the hid ballast will have a reverse polarity safety switch in the ballast. In case you somehow put the positive to the negative and the negative to the positive.

I would really double check that you have the correct bulb that goes with the kit.
I would double check that all your wireing is in tact. HID under load put out allot of power to the bulb. If one of those wires or connections are bad, it will ground itself out. It would flicker or you will hear a buzzing/ticking sound.
If you have a test light you can test your connections going into the ballast ONLY. See if there is power going to the ballast. If yes then you know there is a problem between the ballast and the hid bulb. If you have a bad bulb, the ballast will still be ok.

Also did your kit come a wireing relay kit? The relay kit hooks into your ballasts and the car battery. Hid require a good amount of power to turn on. The relay kit helps power up the hid correctly.

To me it sounds like faulty wiring somewhere,

Thats the thing..
im using the same kit as the DIY PDF in this thread.

I tested both kits and both work fine..

Is just that there is something with the car that shuts down the power from the fogs..

Now is off and i cant turn them on..

I follow every single step of the DIY pdf.. the only thing i didnt do was install both at the same time..

I wanted to test one side first then the other..

Maybe that was my mistake?

the fx was running
there is no way to make the fog lights turn on at this moment..

im pretty sure the ecu triggers something on that...

Does anybody here works at an infiniti dealer?? =-)

so the only way to pop the trim out is that way?
i took out all the screws and the bottom bolts and the trim piece would not budge........I may just order that trim removal kit so i dont scratch everything up
Mine is also a bit different thanks to the aero kit lol

The only thing different with taking the front bumper off with the aero kit is there's only 3 extra phillips head screws on each side. Pop most of the clips off the wheel moldings and turn the steering wheel all the way to make it easier to fit your arm inside. No trim removal kit needed. You getting 3k fog hids ?
