DIY Belts/Pulley

If I remember right:
A and C are 14mm
B and D are 12mm

You should ask Psiclne..he just redid his pulley. I think he had a really hard time taking it off.

Some people just end up taking it somewhere and having it done. Others make a long breaker bar, actually setting it on the ground and barely try and turn the engine over....but not enough to start the engine. This usually will break the bolt free.

Well it's not like you can pull that hard. After some effort, the engine starts to turn, that's the problem. A very strong impact gun could do it.
I put a breaker bar and 19,, socket on the bolt, rested it on the floor and cranked the engine a bit. Worked like a charm. While the pulley isn't "pressed" on, it was stuck so I used a 2 jaw puller to loosen it.

The first time I did it I remember removing a little plate on the trans and sticking a screwdriver in to stop the engine from turning...I can't remember exactly how (it has been awhile).

The second time I did the breaker bar on the floor and cranking a couple times, this way was the easiest. The only thing is torquing the bolt back on...

Can someone with a 2007 FX35 AWD check to see if they have the upper idler pulley on the power steering/alternator side (passenger side accessories) as shown in the diagram above? I have just been through purchasing 2 different belts for this side and both of them have been too long. One was from auto zone and the other was from the dealer. The upper pulley is not necessary but i am just curious if this was a design change or if the previous owner took it off the car. This way i know i am always going to have to provide the part number rather than trust the computer.

And there is no underdrive pulley installed either. I checked.

bringing this thread back to life - anyone have the belt part numbers?

Here is my experience with 2005 FX35.
it is the first time I'm changing belts ever on a car I must to admit it was simple and easy plenty of space to work with and the instructions are great. it took me 30 - 40 minutes and i was done. Dealer of Nissan want to change me $130.00 to change them but i said i will try before letting them make $100 on me. I order the belts on-line from infiniti dealer they were perfect. for the tension of the belt I had to use my hand and feel it, before I remove the old one I check it and then i tried to use the same force of pushing on the new one and this is how I did it. it work! no squeaking or anything like for now :). also Advance autozone gave me a tip that it should not be more then 1/2" play when you push down on the belt.

here is the belt product number
Belt-Fan 11720-4P102 - $13.20
V Belt 11920-AG900 - $11.45

the only other thing i had to remove and this is just to get more space was the air duck box 2 plastic bolt and it was out. Overall I was amaze how comfortable it was compare to other cars I have own in the past (Dodge intrepid RT) you need to take the whole bumper out to access the belts.
