Disadvantages of Lowering

What are some of the problems I could face with lowering my FX. The springs are 500 CDN plus install, and before i spend the money, I want to know what could happen. Keep in mind in live in Montreal, winters are tough here.

Umm can't think of any. Beside the fact that you will loose ground clearance.. But that's what you want anyways whe you lower it...

Oh.. It shouldn't affect your warranty at all unless you take it to a dealership that's ano.. The ride will change.. Handling will be better. The ride quality , ie stiff or soft would be base on which springs you get. Eibachs are stiffer/sportier than H&R. H&R are more of a luxury soft ride type. We have a thread on the differences between the 2 but in the end we all agreed that one is stiffer than the other.

DO IT, YOU'RE GONNA LOVE IT
like Rubare said, it depends on what quality ride you want. right now i have the eibach pro kit which im fine with but it's a lil stiff. im still thinking if i should try the H&R but more people here have eibach. but before you do anything check this thread out.

OP has a 09 FX, not too many choices for springs... I think H&Rs are pre-order right now.

but I agree with all that the ride is still good after springs install

disadvantages of lowering:

1) the fx will look & handle much better, might get more speeding tickets
2) the fx will be easier to get in & out of, make it easier for your mother-in-law to get in it :err:
3) you will be the envy of all the non lowered, jacked up fx's everywhere... they may throw bannanas at you

seriously, there are NO drawbacks, at all... they should have come that way from the factory... the fx stock is just too high... it is an improvement in every way...

I knew someone would say it.

i think the only disadvantage is you will have to get an alignment and possiblly a camber kit if you have uneven tire wear. i've only read of 1 person who needed/wanted a rear camber kit for their dropped FX on this board. a good honest tire shop will you tell you if you need more than an alignment tho.

and of course any lowered vehicle will have a lil more clearance issue on steep driveways/speed bumps ect than their stock counterpart.

you guys sold me on it. I ordered the H&R's today. They're gonna take 7-10 business days but they should be here soon.
Thanks guys for all your help, and i'll be sure to post pics

How is ground clearance a disadvantage? Are people really gonna go rock crawling in the FX? It's not you are making it as low as those cars that will scrape their bumpers. Hell, I barely even scrape my front skirt on curbs when parking. Happened maybe 3-4 times. G sedan however, every time I park.

It is very important where I live. The roads are closed around my house a few weeks each winter due to severe drifting and snow on the roads.
