cold start problems

So $350 seems like a lot of money to correct something that, all things considered, is somewhat of a minor annoyance (having to crank the car twice). However, what I want to know is, will this eventually make it so that I can't start my car at all? I have a 2007 and am having this issue. I was convinced that it was fuel pump related considering that it really only happens on the first start of the day, and always starts on the 2nd try etc. (seemed like the fuel line was just draining back into the tank). Then I read this forum and it appears that it's this AC Amplifier situation.

350.00 is alot of money, did you forget that you drive an Inifiniti! Nothing is cheap on these things especially when it comes to electronic issues. And trust me it's not a minor annoyance, eventually you're going to have to crank your car twice in order for it start and then you'll realize it's not just a minor annoyance. Driving a luxury car and having to crank your car twice and seeing people look at you is a little embarrassing, it's not like we're driving a focus or something. Not sure if you read this whole entire thread or not, but you'll see how aggravating it was before I fixed it. This issue not being resolved even by Infiniti put a really bad taste in my mouth. When I decide to buy another vehicle I don't think that I'll ever buy another Infiniti/Nissan vehicle.

True. On the begining, my FX was doing it only on long weekends. Then, some days. Now all days, and on the last 2 weeks I have to crank it 4 times (with the neighbors watching) before it starts. It's like HELLO you have a $85k car that can't even start from the first time. And the dealer is so incompetent ...

I changed my battery and it never happened again. I was about to purchase the part to fix it but the fx never did it again. Wierd :(

my 03 fx45 is having these symptoms. thought it was the starter. Now i'm thinking it's the ac amplifier. thanks for all the info on this.

Mine has gotten worse recently, we are talking 3-4 cranks needed sometimes. It also has a rough idle upon start usually. Although I don't know if this was related to needing an oil change, so I will monitor now that that is done.

Hold your horses. I bought the AC Amp and just picked it up from the post office today. I'll install it maybe this weekend. I'll let you know

Ok I've just installed it. It only took me 15 minutes to install. I'll update tomorrow morning

what's the part number? i'm looking up part numbers and found "27760-CG000" for my 03 FX45... there's a few other used ones on ebay from g35, 350z, m35/45's that have a the same 27760 extension.

i hope linking is ok for the part below.

is it clicking? or trying to turn over? mine is "clicks" when i turn the key, then i'll try a few more "clicks" and it start strong. I swapped in a new group 35 battery in it also thinking it was the battery.

I have the issue with having it just crank and crank but not turn over. I don't hold it for too long though. Battery replacement fixed it for a bit a couple years ago. I noticed my dome lights seem to kind of flicker like they are getting inconsistent power supply recently.

I have an 08 FX35 and the old part is 277608Y70A. Make sure you dont buy this part. The new part is 277608Y71A. This is the one that you should buy. Always confirm it with the VIN number.

Update: 2 days since the install and is starting perfectly!!

Thanks to Jetblacac !!!

Thank you!!

Having the same issues with start-up as described above. I order the AC Amplifier for my '06 FX35 hoping this will solve my issue. I have replaced the battery which helped for a week or so with the problem returning. Recently, when i tried to startup in the morning, the ignition had a very faint turnover and my FX just made clicking noises. It would not startup, the lights inside the car were on and bright, no codes were tripped and no extraneous service lights were on inside the dash. I had to jump my FX for about 10 seconds and it started up with no issues. That happened twice within the last 2 months along with the hard crank just about everyday in the cold weather.

Thats how behave mine like 6 months ago, then it was everyday, then it was a pain trying to start it 4 times before it turned on... But after I changed the AC Amp I feel sooooo happy it starts like new. Believe me, if you bought the new part number you will not have any issue

Thanks for the info. I will install as soon as i receive it and report back here. Hopefully this is the issue and i can put my mind at ease

installed the new AC Amp and the start up is much much better even after a few days. It starts up every time in one shot, and the RPM's do not drop down below 1000 for a few seconds anymore upon start up. Ill report back in a few weeks, but im confident this was the issue. Thanks everyone.

I am so lazy with this issue. I really need to replace mine. This is crazy.

FX4BR, to be honest i've been putting this off for almost 2 years now. I just couldnt bring myself to drop $350 on a problem that really just made me turn the ignition twice rather than once. But, i finally did and thus far it really is worth it.
