Chedman13's 2003 FX45

Interesting. I like having the extra amps so I know I can blast the system, AC, DVD, charge my phone, etc... Without worrying the battery will die. Adding a caps sounds good too.

So this is the exact opposite of blurring out my license plate...

Here is my latest "mod." New license plates to replace my old ones. I'm going to put weathertech covers on these now so they don't peel and discolor:

Car might be done this Thursday... Having some issues with the Car Link (to use iphone/droid/blackberry with alarm system) and had to send it back due to a faulty unit.

Hopefully the new one comes back soon.

Rear speakers in hatch need some modify to fit.

Full breakdown, parts, placement, the whole bit pal! That last pic looks pretty awesome man, all stealthy and tech style.

You're next big guy if it gets the thumbs up from me and others that listen to it. Not a crazy system, just a better than OEM stealth, no loss of space install.

Hey Ed, from the picture, did you just install the amp on the side or any other mods from the picture? For example, the bose oem sub/amp, i see looks the same?

SoundStream sound processor is in the side, bolted in.

Alpine amp is also bolted in, right next to it.

Bose amp is on other side, but removed. No need for it.

Stock Sub is used and now has more power going to it via Alpine amp. It hits pretty well for being so small. I saw no need to upgrade at this point or even go with Kicker aftermarket to fit in the bose enclosure.

Depending on my future desires, I can wire coming out from the amp so I can quickly connect an aftermarket sub with box. Connecting it will bypass the bose amp.

Remove the aftermarket sub and box and connection, the bose sub will work.

That way, best of both worlds when I don't need the space.

But... Bose will do for now. They pack a punch when given more juice. Tuned as Tim said to not distort, they work fine.

Oh, no cooling fan at the moment. There seems to be air movement, evident from the cooling fins and direction of cooling fins on the OEM bose subs (just a guess).

Cut away the plastic on top for a little more air movement.

Is your sound system done?

dropping it off tomorrow around 5pm est...they are working on it for 2 days...not 2 days straight, but takes more than one day due to the fiberglass molding of the back of the sub box.

I decided to go the velcro the crap out of it route so it's fully removable and can go back to stock easily if need be. If it turns out the way I plan it too....it will be awesome.

I'll be picking it up friday probably around 5-6pm est.

Nice, so just adding a sub or doing speakers too?

Just sub with custom box for the FX without losing space of my cargo, amp, and cap.

For now, my speakers are really good....any louder and I'm asking for trouble I think. The sub on the other hand is what is going to give that concert feel that I'm looking for that i miss a lot. dropping off in 1.5 hours soooo excited! :)

Sweetness, everything came out looking super clean Ed, fantastic job man! Now we can have a Slamming contest at the next get together, lol...

Thanks. But spoke too soon. Pretty embarrassed, but here is what 140,000 miles in Chicago does to your engine bay and what failed o-rings on valve covers does:

190 AMP alternator hasn't arrived yet, but water pump, new belts, new valve covers, new spark plugs, new gaskets, new coolant hoses, new FX35 electric fan, wiring for Dakota electric fan controller (will be inside car, exposed circuit board -- sorry Lance, don't feel comfortable leaving it in the engine bay even if you have no problems) to list a few all in the works.

Transgo transgo transgo. I don't know, maybe.

Unichip? It's a go...

Parts are off.....that much closer to dropping in cams =) pump is very pretty man.

Parts are off? I have NO idea what you're talking about.

Can anyone guess what part is new on my engine?
IMAG0181.jpg

Wait... what is that? Nissan Kit-Gasket 20690-RSZ35? Nismo S-Tune Exhaust gasket kit?

Does anyone know how to tell if a bolt is stainless steel or not? These have the number 4 written on the top of the bolt. The black bolt is one of those crappy ones that rusts for sure (had a few rust and break off on me, taking me 30 minutes to drill it out).

Can anyone guess my "secret" mod??? One hint is that it's actually not that obvious.

Can you say dirty?

New water pump in:

Polyurethane 15mm exhaust hangers (anyone else should be using 9 or 12 mm):

Surgery, guess the mod:

BTW, that is a perfect picture of the pick-up install and will be very helpful to fan modders.....
