Bully Dog Tuner Triple Dog GT for 05-08 FX35

yeah, they are respectable in the diesel world....what makes you think they know what's up for 3.5L v6's?
And although some people use them on the g35 forums, they think they are working but they are not. I would stay away. My friend with a g35x bought one from them and blew his motor the week after. He then realized the auction on ebay for the tuner read for "any nissan or infiniti 3.5L v6; maxima,altima,g35,g35x,350z" which of course, is incorrect because our motors are different from the maximas, altimas......plus, the years listed are the years for the newer maxima motor I believe........
Honestly, I would just stay away from Bullydog and any other "tuners" like it. if they had an app for us I would say go Cobb but they dont have an FX one. Your best bet is to get a couple of mods, intake, exhaust, plenum spacer, etc, and get an ECU reflash/tune by Technosquare. It will be a bit more expensive than a tuner from eBay, but it will actually do something useful and not just platy with the A/F ratio like the bullydog most likely does......

hope this helps. Also, a search of "tuners" or "chips" would have brought up very similar questions...

My friend with a 7th gen Maxima (Newer ones for the guys who are not maxima heads) been running with a Bully Dog tune for months now. No complains from him or any trouble from the motor and he said he noticed a difference in the mid range. But all of this could be in his head but he did beat a 02 6spd maxima with full exhaust and a Short ram so maybe it added a couple of ponies.

My mother in law drives a Maxima (Either 06 or 07, I can't remember the exact year) that has a VQ35DE. What part of the motor is different? It certainly sounds different, but I assumed that was just the intake, exhaust, and tuning.

...The bully dog tuner is not a good option; all it will do is alter the AF.

You keep repeating that but it's simply not true. If you look at their site you will see it does many more things than alter the AF ratio. Timing adjustment, Idle RPM adjustment, wide band conversion, speed limiter adjustment, and rev limiter adjustment are all included on the product info sheet. That's not even including the monitoring capabilities.

poll: Technosquare vs. Bullydog
results: 100% Technosquare, 0% Bully Dog

and that's on one of the cars that bully dogs are "popular" on.

Get the technosquare, you will be much happier.

plus, where on the Bully Dog site do you see a tuner for the FX that isn't focused on fuel economy only??(and did you notice the only engine size listed is the 5.6L?)

It doesn't matter what it says on the site either; CoBB's tuner for the G37 literally does nothing to help; it actually makes the car perform worse, and this is backed by dyno tests. There are units you can buy that help the car's performance, but only work well when paired with a dyno tune because they are piggyback systems.(osiris, etc) Or, you can go with Technosquare, who doesn't use any type of piggyback, you send them your ECU and they make the adjustments on the ECU itself, ranging from removal of speed and rev limiters to adjusting the throttle to be a true WOT @ WOT, etc. etc. (or you can drive to Cali to have them do it with your FX there, which is an even better option, probably one of the best options, since they can put it on the dyno)
Trust me, if you want to get the ECU tuned by a $450~ BullyDog unit that you do yourself, you may as well pay the extra to have technosquare, a leader in nissan tuning, to do it.

edit: I forgot to add, this isn't just me saying this because I have the Technosquare reflash/tune.....This is backed by long hours of researching and filtering through forums and threads from G and Z sites and this site and other sites, etc. I do a lot of reading before I make a purchase now...I learned my lesson a while ago.

I agree that the Bullydog isn't the greatest thing in the world. I'm not saying he should get it. I was disputing your claim as to the capabilities of the device.

The link you posted relates to a completely different engine and shows all of 7 people, none of which claim to have ever used the device, and a couple of which are technosquare customers. That is not an unbiased review.

The product info for the specific device mentioned in the original post is on the bullydog website. Check it out.

I noticed the website error, yes. If you search for the device rather than the vehicle application list you will find it.

I agree that technosquare is PROBABLY the better option, but I'd like to hear from someone who A) has used a bullydog tuner on a VQ35, and B) who isn't already a technosquare super-fan. Post #3 above is one such person. EDIT: What I mean by that is everyone who visits technosquare loves Tadashi and his work. I'd probably be a super-fan if I went as well. Unfortunately it's a bit of a commute from Portland. :frown:

is that a jab? :err:

No man, a joke. I thought the ghetto box comment was funny. Doesn't the mail in reflash deal require you to provide a list of installed mods so they can deduce how they need to adjust? I was imagining sending them a list with the term "ghetto box" on it and it made me laugh.

Nice. I see the coolest smileys on this site.
