Bull Bar

I think the bull bar looks great! I've been interested in one of those but to shell out $458.00 (Romik bull bar from Burtman Industry) is a lot of money but found (the same) one on ebay (looks the same?!?) for $194.99...NO BRAINER (sp)?!? Your posts states no issues with installation? Did your bar come from "suvdressup" on ebay located in NY? Thanks for the Post!!!

Yup suv dress up. The upper mounts don't even come close to fitting. The brackets they provide are off by about 90 degrees on the bullbar. So basically, only the bottom mount works. In order to make the top mounts "work", you'd have to make a L bracket of matching gauge. I've emailed them several times and they've stopped responding. I'm going to follow up with them

Edit SUVDressUp have been very helpful on the phone and via email. Apparently, the person making the brackets was suppose to bend them slightly before shipping them out. 5 seconds in a vise and it's a good as new.

Thanks for the knowledge, Spyhunter! Wish this wasn't so 'cus I like the bull bar and this is definitely lot less expensive than from Burtman Ind. I guess i'll continue to save my allowance!

romik makes a great bar, & at that price it may be stainless steel, where a cheapo will be chromed steel... if given the choice I'd rather get a stainless bar if available over a chromed steel one any day...

Nice to see another option, but I dont see what was difficult with the GTSPEC inserts. Thought the design & install was very cool with that tool. Ya need an airgun though, & ya, those are the same GTSPEC mount points.

i agree that those inserts were very cool. not difficult at all. and i was able to do them by hand. just took a little longer.

I can't Imagine how good it will look powder coated!!! Thinking about it make me want to get one

I'ved edited by original post above. Turned out to be an easy fix and they were quite helpful and apologetic.

Thanks Spyhunter! I think i'm going to purchase the bull bar. Thanks again for the info. This is an outstanding site and i've already finished installing the Stillen STB, sunroof wind deflector, just the front splash guard, and the bug deflector. Next... dash kit?!?

You might want to hand on a few days. The "Bend" they suggested i make didn't cut it.

Hey man, I'm hitting you from my berry. I saw you rolling down milwaukee ave. A few months back ( lookin good ). The bar looks good too. People in the Chi don't know how to drive-or park. Happy healthy new year... And keep your eyes peeled for those crazy pot holes.

I thought that was you, but I couldn't see through the windows.

Sorry for the late reply, but here are some answers to some of your questions:
1) If you have the money get the Romik. You will have 0 problems with install.

2) The Ebay one is what I have. I confirmed it is full stainless steel except for the hardware (brackets). As I mentioned, it's only 20 lbs total weight including brackets.

3) The brackets are not made correctly as someone else mentioned. I created some custom brackets, torched the front brackets up and bended them, etc... Not an easier do-it-yourself. Took me 2 hours total with a trip to ace hardware. The bottom ones go on fine, it's the two front. Also, if you have the Laser assist, you can only use all 4 brackets if you have the Romik. I had to again make a custom bracket for the passenger side.

4) Powder coating will be hard I think to stick to stainless unless you really sandblast it. I'm not an expert in this, but the chrome sticks out and looks nice.

5) My car is current parked with a car in front about 1 mm away from the bull bar...

My suggestion -- buy the Romik. I have easy access to a shop and can make my brackets but others, probably not worth the headache.

I'd rather have 2 hours of my time back honestly and would have paid the extra $300 or so.

Part # B-DNCI-333S
A bar for Infiniti FX35/45 '03-07

I bought this off ebay. I don't think this is the exact same as the Romik:
http://www.burtmanindustries.com/zoomprod.php?id=fx_rom_bull_03_up

It is stainless steel, and I put it on the scale: 20 lbs. It doesn't block the Laser for the brake/cruise feature. Installation would have been easier if it wasn't so cold.

Not 100% sure how I feel about this, but I put it on to prevent any more dings to the front of my car (parallel parkers). One person just backed up into my car and cracked my license plate holder, but that was it. There are 4 mounting brackets, I only used two bottom. The top two bolt onto the frame where the radiator is. If that get broken, that's big $$ to fix. It's sturdy enough with the bottom two main brackets and I did a test drive and it's on there good.

It's a tight fit with the plastic undercover. You have to remove it and bolt the brackets on. I did a little plastic trimming on the edges of the cover to make it easier to put on/off.

Glad you like it. Yes, this is a very high quality piece. 100% stainless steel, polished, so it won't ever chip/rust/peel. It's made in Spain, and this is part of why the quality is so good, then we import them. The welds are perfect and as neat as you'd ever see. It's a great item that as good as the Japan quality on your FX. : ) This particular guard is the best one money can buy, and lifetime warranty.

Since i have the adaptive cruise control...does that mean i can't get the bull bar?

You can, I have it.

Just get the one from Jason Burtman, it's like $500 vs the $200 on ebay. I had to create custom brackets because the ebay one has faulty brackets.

Jason's will fit.

If you are handy, $200 + $5 in materials for modifying the brackets... but this is not a DIY by any means. I'm lucky enough to know someone who works with steel/metal.

Just e-mailed him... It would be nice to have actual brackets vs my home made ones. I had to extend and bend the brackets to make it fit.

i just emailed a guy that bought the same bumper from suvdressup on ebay, he said you have to make 4 cuts on the bumper for the brackets, 2 on the bottom plastic trim and 2 in the middle...is that how the romik and westin bull bars are too? i don't feel too comforable cutting my bumper in 4 diff spots...my bull bar/nerf steps are shipped and its gonna be near impossible for me to return it since i live 3k miles away and the guy doesn't take returns on his auction...

btw chedman did u get a reply about the brackets yet? keep me updated man!

Yeah, you do have to make cuts, and the cuts are huge don't do it.

another member bought the romik, no cutting. Call Romik up and order just the brackets from them, I never thought of that... I might do that myself.

I installed the two lower and the two upper don't work unless you cut a lot away at the plastic. No way I was doing that, so I custom fabricated one bracket to hold up one side and left the other one off. It's on tight so no worries.

thats brilliant, i'm gonna call romik and see how much the brackets cost. also i might just call these guys broadfeetdotcom and see if they have any other bracket solution for their product.

keep me posted if you find a good solution for this chedman, thanks.
