Broken Wheel Well Molding

So apparently I did a less than perfect job in securing the passenger's side wheel well molding when I installed my fog lights a few months ago. When I was driving in the freeway, all of a sudden, the front of the wheel well molding flew up and hit the door. I had not secured the bolt on the underside! Whoops! :eek.:

So now the tabs that secure the trim piece to the body are all broken. I should get a new molding but it's $81 at infinitipartsusa.com! I know I screwed up, but I refuse to pay $81 for a piece of plastic.

I've secured the bolt on the front but now the arched part is wobbly. I want to get some slow setting super glue and glue the trim to the ripped off pegs. But I was wondering what adhesive Infiniti uses to secure the plastic trim pieces to the body. Does anyone have any idea what that could be?

Hah I got the same problem. It was there before I bought the car. Molding broken in half at the top of a wheel well. No ripped off clips though. Let me know if you find some cheap ones. No chrome though

You can try 3M automotive foam tape that you can buy from the auto parts store. That should do it. Using glue wouldn't be a good idea because its permanent and would make a bigger mess trying to clean it or remove it in the future. With tape, at least its removable. Infiniti does use a really thin layer of foam tape for the moldings (at least in the rear).

I'm headed to Auto Zone right now! Thanks AeroBFA!

Sure, I just installed chrome window trim last week on my FX. I used some of the 3M tape on two parts of the trim because the clips were broken. The tape is very strong and should work out well on the wheel well molding. I also relocated the Fujita badge on my intake (to make it more visible) and used the same tape and it worked perfectly.

Okay. So I just fixed the wheel well molding with the molding tape. I cleaned both the fender and the plastic molding trim with degreaser and rubbing alcohol. Then I applied the double sided molding tape. I applied pressure to it for 10-15 seconds and it seemed to stick well. Today has been overcast and I've only driven for a short distance but it seems to be holding up well. Spending $7 for the tape and half an hour of my time is much better than spending my hard earned money on an overpriced piece of plastic. Thanks again AeroBFA!
