black tail lights

VHT Niteshade is a tinting paint that works well and is as easy as using spray paint. Apply more coats for a darker finish. But you can go too dark and block all light from coming through. It's easy to remove with acetone if you screw up. the acetone doesn't damage the lens housing.

thats good to know about the acetone... gonna vht my tails but was wondering if i leave the tails on my car or try to take the tail housing off?

I live in Kingsport TN and have called five bodyshops looking to have this done, out of the five one said he had never done it but would play around with it and for me to call at the beginning of the week and one said having them tinted would be better than paint because the heat would make the paint bubble and crack HELP!!!!!

I would really recommend taking them off, it only takes 15 minutes to do this. If you leave them on, it's going to be hard to get all the contours and edges right.

I just had mine completed. Here are some after shots. You can look at my albums for more pictures. I need to darken my lower reflectors and the upper brake light. They were done with a light smoke but I wanted them all darker. I did my headlights with the light smoke.

Was this the spray tint, if so which brand? It looks good.

I'm curious, is the Niteshade a matte finish? I keep seeing these cars with matte taillights and it looks awful. Or cars with somewhat shiny smoked taillights and it looks like a cloudy clearcoat. I looked at pics of the VHT online and the lights all looked sort of dull. Is that the finish? I've only ever had taillights done by a bodyshop so I honestly have no idea what the DIY version should look like.

Sounds like VHT to me. Another symptom i've noticed with VHT is that when the brake lights are applied, you can actually see the streaks from the paintjob if not done evenly

These bad boy tails were touched by the magical hand of turbocad :good:. Dark enough to do the aesthetics part w/o sacrificing light output and not that dark to attract cops.
