big emergency help

This is the perfect opportunity for turbo to look into fabricating a completely new shifter. =)

if i manually pull up the blue stick, i can get the ignition to the fully off position and then it doesnt scream. im gonna take it just in case. im pretty good with my car but sometimes id rather just be safe... specially with the tranny stuff i have absolutely no understanding off. and maybe theyll give me the ex as a loaner...

Would this be Metro Infiniti?? You'd be lucky if they gave you a newer G

I do want to fabricate a new shifter... I want it to be fully electric like the benz & get rid of that big stick in the center of the console all togeather... don't know if I'll ever actually get to it though, but I got it built in my head already

We use to talk about bringing some of the cali people over to NY to mod our cars...now they can come here for you to mod theirs!

oops...sorry for the thread jack =P

Samo dealership has been great to me. Just ask for jon henderson. He's into mods, and I got an 07 g last visit.

could you please clarify

i do go to metro... its where i bought it, and i can go see friends when im out there. and really im still amazed i get any free car since a bought a used car...

I just remember removing the blue plastic piece when I installed my momo shifter as it was unnecessary. So it maybe that piece that is the faulty and not the whole shifter. Just a thought.

maybe... but the blue piece seems to be what makes the car lock and unlock betwen gears
with that piece down i could be driving at 40 and throw it into reverse... with it up is the only way i can make the ignition turn completely off... ill be messing with it later and let you know what i find

Even without the blue piece there still should be a spring action to the shifter in the middle. The blue piece just seems to make the shifter longer and presses down on the shifter to engage and disengage the shifter.

yeah, I think from memory the blue piece is just an extension of a white plastic rod that actually engages the release tab internal... it should be spring loaded & move freely, & pop back up on it's own... all the button does is push it down when necissary... when the blue thing gets stuck down it's like your pressing the shifter button continuously, this is why it'll go straight past neutral from drive & why you can't lock the ign... it's acting like your pressing the shifter button continuous when it's stuck down...

the dealer will probably not make any attempt to repair the situation... a text book repair will say the shifter is "serviced as an assembly" & I could see a pretty huge bill for something that could otherwise be repaired for nothing, more than likely...

ok got the blue thing off. now it works perfectly... so any of you LA people know somewhere that has nice looking auto shifters... none of those fake carbonfiber numbers they put on 95 honda accords...
im near Ktown.
