question, if my moms fx35 makes belt squealing noise on a cold start only IF she turns her steering wheel all the way to one side...and afterwords the sound goes away....and it doesnt do that any more once the cars warmed up....could it be belt issue? cuz recently i changed the belt on the car....and the sound started then.....i couldnt get gaterback so i went with duralast....the sound isnt like typical bad p/s pump sound, its SQUEAL! like belt squeal.....should i just go change the belt? and also could it be because the belt is on too tight? thank you

should i change the belt? or tighten them? cuz it only makes squealing sound the steering pump on load...

It's not tight enough. Turn it couple more times.

i could never tell when its tight or not...sigh...lol how do u tell if its tight enough without those belt tension checker thing....

Yes. The bolt under the tensioner pulley.

I don't know the answer to this one as my old FX has the same issue except nothing to do with turning the wheel nonsense. The only thing I can add about turning the wheel is that it adds extra stress on the power steering pump as you start the car. When you start the car you're also starting the alternator, power steering pump, AC system (the AC compressor), oil pump and water pump.

Well I don't think there's a gatorback belt on it now... not sure what my brother replaced it with or if he did replace it at all, but I always was a fan of the gatorback belts.

I'll go find out the OEM size to order a gatorback and give it a shot and let you know.
