belt

Thanks Rookie. If memory serves me right, the "A" seems to have a built on washer like the strut ones while the "C" appears to lack that washer. Is that how you remember it?
 
Not sure, I thought they were both the same flange type nuts.

Thanks Rookie. I got regular 14mm nuts from Autozone (not flanged), removed the stripped nut from the AC belt and replaced it. No more squealing noises!

Thanks guys finally got there, but it appears that my Masan dealer sold ne belt that is almost an inch longer. Wrr they have matched belt via vin and is still wrong one so after 2 hrs of mystery I gave up. And there s no auto tensioner by me:(

Damn, seems this issue was never solved.

According to this thread thread though the K060450 sized belt did fit for someone.
 
Hey Guys, new here and wanted to add some input. Did the belts this weekend. Pretty much turned on the AC and it squealed like crazy after investigation both belts were cracked up so went for the change. Now even though I did these form on top the engine bay it would have been a whole lot easier to get to the A/C tensioner bolt from underneath. I just went by feel.

Once the new belts were on I was still getting a slight squeal so did the test again and turn on the AC and there was no change so went after the PS/Alt belt. After tightening a couple of times and getting fedup I decided to tighten while the car was running until it stopped + a little extra. Quite a few of you would probably disagree but it was so simple and as another poster said there is so much room in the front. So once your careful it seems fine. So do it at your own risk.

In a nut shell for those asking about belt tension and don't have a meter (like me) the ps/alt will be a lot tighter than the AC due to the size of the belt and distance between the pulleys.

Also my 2005 FX35 does not have an auto tensioner does anyone have them ?
 
I tightened both belts today...but never did it with engine running lol...I just tighten and then test

@bnanton01, my personal opinion here.... my fingers and arm are worth more than a couple stop, adjust, and start to retest.

1st Gen FX don't have option for auto tensioner.
 
My belt that i put in over 5 years ago started making loud whiny noises when the AC is engaged. Without the AC, all is quiet. Thought it was a simple case of tightening the AC belt since it was loose and i could feel it move when i press on it. However, the pulley cant be tightened any more and the tensioner itself is pretty tight. Yet the belt is still loose. I see minor cracks in the belt and will change it out shortly. Can the stretching of the belt be associated with old age/wear or am i looking at another issue?
 
Did you loosen the center nut on the idler before attempting to adjust the adjusting screw?
 
You will not be able to adjust the belt if that nut is not loosen. Procedure is that you have to loosen the idler nut and then adjust with the adjusting bolt/screw.
