After leaving my rear hatch and one door open for about an hour (engine off, no radio, etc.)and then attempting to start the engine it wouldnt crank? I was under the assumption that there was a fail safe system that would shut down the interior lights after a specific period of time (like 30 minutes). After waiting about 2 minutes from the no start attempt I cranked it again and it started ! Since then it has started like it normally does. The dealer advised me tht there is a safety shutdown but will all the other electronics that remain on all the time (like the key less entry system) even with the car off that the load can start to wear down an older battery?
Is there such a safety circuit to shut down electrical loads from the interior lights after a specific time ?
I only have 14k miles on my car but the battery is still 4 years old.

FYI = The battery has a sticker on it stating 84 month limited warranty. The dealer told me that new the battery is $210 and with the pro rating from the warranty it would cost me $110.

There is no fail safe for the interior lights. Battery wear and tear depends on a lot of factors, if you left your lights on multiple times (without realizing they were on) this could have worn out the battery over time. It's not unheard of for a 4 year battery to die.

my oe battery died in 3 years, so its pretty normal to die after 3 years

+1/\ Had to replace my battery after 3 yrs. You probably need a new battery.

Two OE batteries on a 2009? Did you get compensated by the 84 month Limited Warranty? Per the dealer on mine = A new battery out of warranty is $210, because of your warranty it would cost you $121 and it would come with a 7 year pro-rated warranty.

it was free for me....second time it would had been pro-rated but their tests found that the battery was good but not optimal in crank. My dealer does a thorough battery test at my every oil change.

On my first gen, the interior lights go out on their own after 10 minutes or so if the key is in the OFF position. At least that's what I remember happening. I'll double check this next time I remember.
