After leaving my rear hatch and one door open for about an hour (engine off, no radio, etc.)and then attempting to start the engine it wouldnt crank? I was under the assumption that there was a fail safe system that would shut down the interior lights after a specific period of time (like 30 minutes). After waiting about 2 minutes from the no start attempt I cranked it again and it started ! Since then it has started like it normally does. The dealer advised me tht there is a safety shutdown but will all the other electronics that remain on all the time (like the key less entry system) even with the car off that the load can start to wear down an older battery?
Is there such a safety circuit to shut down electrical loads from the interior lights after a specific time ?
I only have 14k miles on my car but the battery is still 4 years old.
FYI = The battery has a sticker on it stating 84 month limited warranty. The dealer told me that new the battery is $210 and with the pro rating from the warranty it would cost me $110.
