Arggh! stuck and can't decide on wheels 20 or 22 's Falken RT-7M

What should I do??

The guy told me that the tires (285's) were too wide for an 8.5 inch wheel and that they didn't meet the weight requirement for the car. Did you get these from a store or online? Did you have any problems with this? I even had the guy pull up this thread and he still told me he couldn't do it.

I purchased them in store. Yes they said I couldn't do 265 width because of load but 285 worked fine. I love the wheels they handle much better than the 18's. 22's and lower profile lightened the steering a lot (Used to be hard to turn the steering wheel with 18's). Feels more like car if I had to describe it.

What would you guys do ? Concerned with appears, weight (gas mileage and 0-6) and handling.

I believe that the lighter 20in wheels would be the best on the performance side of the fence, however the Falken 22in wheels weight about the same as the factory wheels so you may not lose much in the way of performance and braking compared to the factory wheels. The 22in tires on the other hand may weight more than the 20in factory tires which may bring the 22in Falken tire/wheel combo weight a little higher than the factory setup which could affect braking and gas mileage, but not by much. If you want looks over performance I would get the 22in wheels. However, If you like to increase your performance over the factory setup I would get the lighter 20in wheels. The 20in Falkins are about 10 lbs less than the factory 20in wheels, so will notice an increase in handling,braking,acceleration,etc. Form vs. Function. Tough Decision. I would go with the lighter wheels myself.:good:

Thanks but I did end up going with 22's and handing and steering performance feels superior over my stock 18's.
Stock 18's going for sale soon as it warms up for anyone intrested.

I have just read some of the previous posts and saw the Falkens wheels on your FX. Damn they look good. I was thinking about buying the same ones from Discount Tire also. I did not like how they looked on the wheel picture preview page on the Discount Tire website that show wheels pasted on car pictures, but they look great on the FX in your pix. I may have to visit Discount Tire and buy those wheels in 20's this summer. However, I will probably go with the gunmetal and machine finish.

NP. The guy at Discount was right about your RT-7 wheels being available in black only, I was talking about the RT-6 wheels having the choice of black and gun metal gray finish.
