Anyone NOT affected by the bubbling dash?

Supposedly Infiniti covers it for free these days regardless of the mileage on your car (but does depend on manufacture date). I called my Salt Lake City dealer 2 days ago just to ask about it, and they said that it has now become an actual recall of sorts. Meaning, if the owner of the vehicle calls in or goes in to the dealer requesting to get the bubbled dash fixed, they will do it for free. HOWEVER, they WILL NOT send you a notification in the mail asking you to come get it done like a normal recall. I live in Utah, so just come visit and get the hook-up if your dealer is giving you the run around.....lol

I would literally drive to Utah from Texas to get this issue resolved! Do you know the manufactures dates that they are recalling?

I just did mine myself. 200 bucks for used one from a wrecked fx35 that was rear ended. Dash was mint. It was a fucking nightmare. Don't do it unless you are mechanically inclined.

Quote I got from the dealer was 15 hours of labor. Thats from someone who does this for a living. I assume for me would take 20 hours or so.

Yup I started 600pm and didn't finish until 1000 am the next morning. Pulled an all nighter, lol. Could have gotten it done in less time too. But took my time and wanted to be careful. It was worth it though.

I bit the bullet and paid to have it done after seeing photos of an FX with the dash off. I have a hard enough time getting the cable back in after taking out the center console...

My 2-cents: it's a combination of sunlight/heat and Armor-All. I had not even a HINT of bubbling on my 11 year old FX, then a local detail shop Armor-All'd the dash and the bubbles started within a couple of weeks. N of 1, I know. Curious how many of the non-bubble crowd use Armor All?

That was a case with mine!! Never used Armor All and then earlier this year a friend convinced me to have a "pro-shop" detail my car. When I got her back, dashboard was soaked with Armor All, almost greased up, I get it some places think "shine" makes things appear clean, I literally had to wipe it off. It left nasty residue and a few days later parked in a full LA sun I noticed small cracks, now I have cracks from all 4 corners of all 3 dashboard speakers and one going across the passenger airbag!

No armor all on my dash in the 7 years I've had it, still got bubbles.

My bubbling started about 3 months after my extended warranty ran out. Dealers wouldn't do a thing and when I called Infiniti USA they wouldn't do anything either.

My family owns 4 Infiniti vehicles, my 2005 FX35 being the oldest.

Trust me I tried everything and nothing helps I practically gave up. I called my local dealership just out of curiosity for a quote and their asking $2,895! WTF ! I love my Infiniti but I don't love her that much to spend almost $3K on a dashboard! I'm just buying a dashboard cover and call it a day.

Most of that is all labor. 12-15hrs. That's what it took me all by myself. 200 bucks for a used dash in perfect shape and no bubbling. Hardest part was the steering wheel.

So my 2008 doesn't have any bubbles (saw plenty that did when I was looking to buy) so have used a sun shade for the last month. However, a real pain. I am trying to figure at what temp I can relax, and not use it, since I am in Toronto Canada and we don't get a lot of hot and humid days.

Wonder if the ceramic uv tinting might be the answer?

Bought my 2006 a year ago. Being the third owner, I have no idea if the dash has been changed. It's a Texas car and came with a sunshade for the windshield. The previous owner gave specific instructions to continue using the sunshade in the Texas heat to prevent the bubbling. Just lucky that the owners before me took preventative steps. I use the sunshade every time I park, sun, rain, or snow.

Even if your covered by warranty, your only buying time by having the dash replaced, the replacement will just start bubbling as well, and you just keep replacing until warranty runs out. If you want to throw money at it, have it upholstered in leather, looks and feels 10x better than factory, you can choose between different qualities of leather, choose any color you want, you can even have it stitched in contrasting color! (and the bubbles DONT come back!)
Thats what I'll be doing with mine, will cost me just under 1k, getting it upholstered isn't the problem, it's finding a shop that is willing to build out the dash and put it all back together!
