Another Blown Eibach Spring

Guys I just got my Eibach springs in on Friday. The only reason why I went with Eibach is because H&Rs was on backorder for quite sometime. I'm going to take picture of the springs out the box and post pics. Is there a specfic point on the spring I should look at? Is it just the fronts?

We should gather all the threads related to Eibach's snapping and compose a lengthy email and email them. And round up everyone with these springs and call them. This might bring some attention to this issue if we pick a day for everyone to call and complain.

Got mine on thursday. Since I live a charmed life, mine won't break. Installed, lowered and loving the feel.

I stick with luck, and the fact that I live in Texas and don't have to worry about cold temps or salt corrosion (not that I would worry anyway).

That's what I'm talkin bout - you have hear of "a lot" of failures?

I have been able to find reports of TWO on the other forum site. That's it. Two.

two? did you follow these two threads?

Here are the members that have snapped Eibachs:
jatavafx35
wasabiz45
infx35
KamalFX
Schooch1282
bradical
eurofx

That's 7 only @ the .org.. Who knows how many more have failed that didn't get posted on the forums..

Another note is that majority of these snaps looks like failure in the springs metallurgy rather than from corrosion. The point TurboCad made (there are a lot of corroded parts under the car) and the fact that the European failure (EuroFx) didn't have any corrosion supports that..

I hope nobody else experiences these failures but I personally don't think it's because of salt & snow alone.

I read both of those threads and I could only find two breaks. One in Boston, one in Germany. There is no mention of all the other members you mention - and I'd like to get in touch with a couple of them to find out where/how the failure took place. If you know some contact info, would you PM me?

And I totally agree that it's a metal problem. So if Eibach was smart, after the first failure or two they would have checked the metal used for these production runs. I wouldn't expect it to continue unless they just did nothing. There could be a few bad springs out there, still new in the box.

Here they are. Bradical's original post is somewhere else that I can't find now but if you look at this post, you'll see that his springs snapped as well..

And what about someone whose spring snapped and caused a wreck and they died so they never could report it? Not saying it ever happened, but it could have.

At least Eibach replaces the springs if they break.
DO they? The guy in Europe I know was having problems because he got them second hand. I bought my H&R's used, so I don't have a receipt, though I know they came from Stillen. I hope they are replacing them, but it's as simple as saying you have a snapped spring.

thats what it said in that thread:

"My Ltuned Eibach spring that broke after 3 years. These were dealer installed and purchased/ No prior damage to the suspension, shocks in perfect working condition, no damage from impacts, or potholes or racing track use. Just broke, for no apparent reasoning. As you can see, surface rust is evident, but not corroded further than the surface area. This would be expected on springs with 120,000 km's. Incidentally Eibach has a million mile warranty and covered the replacement."

here's another interesting thread from myis forum about eibach spring snapped. post#13

http://my.is/forums/f122/how-do-you-know-when-springs-wear-out-371046/

notice some rust in the surface but nothing inside.
