Another Blown Eibach Spring

H&R's FTMFW! Eibach isn't bad, but I wouldn't want the hassle of my spring breaking after going through everything to get them installed.

Interesting. Eibach used to make Comptech stuff for Acura and there were several posts regarding spring failures in the east coast mostly due to corrosion. This is probably what's happening to FX Eibach springs.

yet ANOTHER snapped eibach?? :err:

same link as the top of this thread, at the org... on an 06 fx no less... I mean how many years could he have even had them on his fx? 3 max???... unbelievable...

Eibachs went on Sept.-Nov. of 2006. So 2 1/2 years.

just posted this there too:

there is no question that the problem is a metalurgical problem with the spring steel itself that eibach is forming these out of, do you know how many things under your car are not coated & have surface rust? many. if a control arm or suspension link just decided to break after less than 3 years of being exposed to the elements then that would be extremely rediculous & not even fit to be considered a car... eibach has a big problem here with these, surface rust is NOT an excuse, many older cars the springs are not even coated, they form a complete suface rust finish right away, but still serve a long useful life. a spring snapping is not a normal occurance, & for multiples within a short period of just a few years, there is a real problem with these springs...

are people just replacing them? has anyone contacted eibach and if so what are they saying???

they keep saying first we've heard of it, not common at all & they gave replacements...

at this point it should be a recall maybe, but the implications in something like that would be astronomical for them, because then they'd have to be liable for labor too. don't think they'll ever volunteer something like that, even if they offered a replacement program then they could be sued for labor & there voluntary agreement for exchanges would be an admission of liability which would make them very vulnerable to loosing big $$$$ would take a class action suit to get them to pony up for that & would be a major hit for them, I'm sure they wouldn't go there without a fight to the end, they will not willingly acknowledge that there is a problem... best case for them would be if it was just a bad batch in an otherwise fine lot...

Eibach should recall these bad springs before someone gets hurt or worse dies.

Should we spread the word to other car sites.?

This has been ongoing for a long time. Comptech Springs that I used in my acura in 2003 were manufactured by Eibach. There were common instances where the springs were snapping due to major oxidation in the east coast while the west coast guys had no problems.

It looks like they were never fixed. That's why I stayed away from Eibach due to its history of product failures.

wow, guess we'll hear more of these in the future. I got a spare set of STOCK 2006 (10K miles) springs  , any takers? hehe.

well alot of these blown eibachs are from the east coast
have not heard of eibachs snapping here over at westside for life
