I was in Chicago a couple weeks ago for a wedding and man, I don't know how you guys deal with traffic!
And the tolls, oh the tolls. Those stations had me digging pretty deep under my seats in order to find enough silver to pay the Troll aka the City of Chicago. When I opted to take toll-free routes, the roads were absolutely horrendous. This isn't mentioning the parking fees downtown who pretty absurd. $35 for a couple hours is a little steep IMO.
That being said, Chicago is a BEAUTIFUL city! It's definitely a place I can see myself living someday. Lake Shore Drive was very pretty and the skyline was totally a magnificent sight to behold. I REALLY wanted to do a kayak tour through that river that cuts through the middle of downtown but I didn't have much time, although I did get to see and do a lot of the other touristy stuff (Willis Tower, Navy Pier, China Town, Magnificent Mile, Portillo's, The big chrome testicle looking thingy in that park)
I did have a scenario where I had hit a curb late at night near a neighborhood close to Chinatown, got out with my surefire light to take a look, and a menacing looking black guy from across the street started walking towards me saying, "Wow what a beautiful car, I'd love to have it." I'm not sure if his true intention was to complement or something else, but I hurried into the driver's seat and booked it. I had to leave my usual concealed carry in Missouri because of the laws in Illinois, so I definitely felt powerless.
Anyway, I can't make it up this time for the meet, but I will try an make time for the spring meet :smile (2):
