I've gotten a few pm's asking about these rears on the first gens so I think I'll just put a quick reference to what is different first gen vs 2nd here for those 1st gen guys who are looking at this group buy.

second gens will only need the caliper pads and rotors, otherwise the rear is just a bolt on. the backing plates would need to be trimmed as well for clearance of the larger rotor

first gens, in addition to these things will also need to replace the 2 rear knuckles/spindles from an fx50. 1st gens will also require an adapter kit to fit the fx50 rear knuckle/spindle to the 1st gens. I have a limited number of these kits available & the kit is ~$85 plus shipping for this. kit includes 2 upper ball joint adapters and 8 longer hub bolts. you will need the rear spindles and my adapter kit to bolt these on a first gen. my kit does NOT include the fx50 rear knuckle/spindles themselves, just the adapters & the bolts, you would still need to source these rear knuckle/spindles from infiniti.

Thx for the info turbocad, interested in doing this so may be ordering the adapter kit from you. By any chance, do you know how much the rear knuckels/spindles will run...just looking for a ballpark figure? appreciate your help bro...

don't know if this link will direct correctly but http://www.infinitipartsusa.com/par...FX50&year=2009&catalogid=2&displayCatalogid=0

they have them listed as $276.44 each, which is why this rear retrofit is somewhat less popular with the first gen guys :)

Thx again turbo...sorry for all the questions...but you are the one with the answers!!
So with the adpater kit...will I still need the longer stud bolts if I'm already running
spacers? I have 25mm h&rs already on there.

I would jst need the knuckles and the balljoint adapters correct? It looks like we can use the stock rotors which is good as I have a new set of R1 concepts...

the bolts in my kit are not wheel studs, they are the 4 bolts each side for the rear hub. the fx50 knuckle is aluminum where the old was steel. because it's aluminum the flange is thicker, requiring the longer bolts.

you can not use the original rear rotors either, there too small, you must use fx50 rear rotors

Thx turbo...yeah just realized that when I read the DIY write up that was posted here. It might be a bit too technical for me...I'm going to try to get an estimate on getting this installed. Wish I was near you in NY area...where I'm originally from lol. Otherwise may jst stick with the fronts....but it jst seems wrong
to not match the rears you know? But it looks like this mod could get really pricey....will weigh my options. Appreciate all the info....

...

Stoptech makes a front only as a rear is not necessary and is made to work with the factory brake system in harmony. Same with the AP Racing, but they have a front and rear kit too.

...

Long story short, a front only kit will be just fine on the 1st generation FX (or 2nd). And as Turbo states, the rears are bolt on for a 2nd generation so that should be done if the cash is there.

A "front only kit" is different than using the front half of a bbk or just upsizing the fronts somewhat randomly, as is the case with using FX50S front brakes with FX35 rears. A front only kit is (as you said) designed to work with the existing rears, whereas the FX50S fronts are designed to work with the FX50S rears. Obviously though if it works in this case than this is a moot point. I was just explaining the words of caution fxp had heard about blindly increasing the rotor size and how it can have undesireable results.

I would like to also know if this is still going on ? If not this isn't a bad deal.. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/OEM-INFINITI-FX50-AKEBONO-FRONT-REAR-CALIPER-SET-_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQfitsZModelQ3aFX50QQhashZitem27bcc67107QQitemZ170670846215QQptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories#ht_1789wt_939, maybe someone can talk to circle infiniti and see if we can do a group buy with them. It says they have 5 sets of these in stock. If we got them for $600 per set on 6 sets that would be sweet.

Turbo: will the fx50 akebono calipers bolt right up on the 09 fx35 or do they need different brackets ? Just wasn't sure if the holes would line up.

I would def be interested specially since I would just do a BBK upgrade for my FX35. I already have the Stoptech SS brake lines and would just need the rotors and pads and the special piece that turbocad sells.

I emailed him and this is their response:

Dear jmess61386,

Sure we can work something out. I think the best way to do this is for every additional kit you add the price goes down $10 (up to 6). So the lowest it can go is $820 for a group of 6 or more. Each kit is subject to $40 shipping within the US. Let me know if that works.

Still would like them a lot cheaper ....

spoke with tony today and he can do the kit for about $1500 + shipping
