7 Speed Transmission Re-Flash

Well, I took my car for it's first oil change today. While I was there I said I would like to get a reflash for my tranny as per Bulletin XXXXX. They never heard of it or did this particular reflash yet.
I told them that once in a while it was erratic on it's shifting (really only once in a while but it was my only complaint with the vehicle)
Well, they looked it up and said they would do it and it only took 1 hour for my 1st service/oil change and tranny reflash. My service guy is a great guy to get along with.

All I really notice is a bit smoother shifts and also a bit less lag time. Still worth it  Oh, and my FX was made in October 08
This is the way a service department should respond, glad it worked out for you. Sounds like you're wearing your FX out like we are, we picked our up a year ago on August 8th and it just turned 6500 miles.

+1 I am very happy with my service dep't. I have been extremely happy with them (but then I bought 3 new Infinitis from them since 04) We bought our FX35 new on June 5th, so we have not had it 3 months yet.

By the way, our Dealer had two nice new FX50s there and a real nice 08 FX45, I asked about the 08 and it was brand new, 0 miles on it.

Well.. my steering column broken.. i think
it work fine for forward and back..
but up and down making sound krrekkk kkrrreekkk and not moving..

Yeah, I've been driving my car for the past week and since it was re-flashed, it's not that huge a difference compared with what I originally posted. It's smoother sure, but it's not that large of a change. The car already drove very smooth, it just tended to occasionally search for gears.

That is exactly how I feel after the reflash.

I just got my car re-flash and for the steering column i have to wait for 1 week since they had to order it..
I don't know but i don't really feel the diff after reflash.. it is probably because i always drive with M most of the time.. But I do notice that the D A/T transmission is smoother when changing gear and hunting gear is gone..

My dealer didn't know about the service bulletin so i have to show him through my cell and connect to this forum for the bulletin scan..

Just got the re-flash. Much, much better. I personally think they ought to automatically give it to everyone who comes in for service - my dealer didn't give me a hard time at all but I definitely had to ask for it.

The transmission was one of only two things that really bug me about this car (rear visibility being the other) - nice to knock one of them off the list!

GEE35FX I was just wondering which dealer in ontario you took your fx to for the reflash? I went to my dealer (alta infiniti) and they gave me this big bs story and wouldn't do the reflash even after reproducing the problem.

First they said that my car didn't have the 7 speed tranny LOL, then they said because it has so many gears is why theres a lag and it why it takes long for it to search for the proper gear. I even printed this thread and service bulletin and they still gave me attitude as if I was wrong...

I went to Guelph Infiniti, I have always got along great with them there. They had my reflash and first service done in just over an hour.

hii

i have 1 question

what do you mean by re flashing .... what do they do ??
They re-programme your vehicles computer. In this case they download info so the transmission will shift differently.

mmmmmm...

like if i went to the company workshop and ask them for the new program of the transmission they will provide it ???

what if they said they dont have this new program ??

Don't want to start a new thread as this maybe related.

Is DS suppose to lock out 6 & 7 gear all the time? I drive constantly in DS and I notice recently driving along in DS at about 70-80km/hr and than manually downshiting I would be greeted by gear 5, I remember see gear 7 occasionally. Am I misunderstanding what DS does or is there something wrong? Could this possible be fix with the reflash?

DS is sport mode and it will keep you in a gear that will give you more revs, I think this is normal for the speed you are quoting. When you downshift at 70 to 80 you are probably already in 6th gear at that speed so it will downshift you to 5th.
Mine does that and I have had the reflash.
I do not drive in DS all the time because your gas mileage will suffer badly. I only use it on twisties etc.

thanks that totally clarifies it. I find that I get better mileage in city with ds than with d, beside even it it takes more gas I rather than have sluggishness. The best mileage I find can only be achieve when I manually shift

Just so you have an idea of my mileage. Here are my results and this was calculated from fill-ups and distance travelled, not the car computer.
Most of my driving is about 75% or more highway.
I average around 11.2 L/100km (25 Imp mpg)
My worst has been 12.46 L/100km (22.67 Imp mpg)
My best has been 10.6 L/100km (26.65 Imp mpg)

what does you car computer say? I'm too lazy and forgetful to manually calculate but the computer say i'm geting about the same around 11-12L average and i drive 50% highway

It does not give you an accurate average reading.
I usually get anywhere from 750 to 900 km before I fill it up. Is yours about the same?

I keep my gas receipts and figure the MPG out at home
