Well, I finally decided to take the plunge with some 22" forged multi-piece wheels for my FX. Out of all the cars I've owned in the past from Audi, BMW and a 350Z Roadster, I've always gotten either rep wheels or something cheaper compared to multi-piece and always regret the purchase later and I'm not going to do that again. Out of all the cars I've driven, the FX is definitely the best all around and most enjoyable ride I've had, so I want to spoil myself and car and get the rims I want. I narrowed it down to about four manufacturers here. I would like everyone opinion about what setup and design details would look good with my car. Ive decided on doing 7 spoke but 8 could work. Going to be 22x10 on all fours (AWD) with silver/brushed face with chrome lip. Want to keep the wheels silver to be consistent with the silver roof rails and the upgraded 06+ body work I did. I'm currently on H&R springs but will eventually upgrade to coilovers because current drop is not low enough for me.

I was thinking doing the front lip flat and the rears with a deep concave to give it a staggered appearance. Concave is all the rave nowadays, but I may decide to do flat front with the standard lips on all fours. Concave does add extra to cost and a few pounds per wheel I was told as well. Also not sure if I want rivets on the wheels or not which are all optional. What wheels and setup does everyone think will work on a Liquid Copper setup?

Advance One - ADV1 I like these the best, but they are the most expensive starting $5500+. So I think I may pass on these since the others are around $4000.

Interad Turismo - These are my second favorite and much lower in price. I thinking the deep concave in the rear would look great on the FX. These are the wheels I leaning towards at the moment.

Modulare Forged - Modsport Wheels - These are pretty nice too, leaning towards 7 instead of 8 spoke still.

BC Racing - I wanted these for the longest time and will probably be the cheapest, probably around $3K. They are still developing them and there is no ETA for release, so these will probably be out of the running.

Thank you for your opinions!

A couple of these wheels look like they will accommodate big brakes better (say that 3x fast). What brakes are you running (or think you'll install) or is that a non issue?

Hey -- here are my two cents:

  1. Go with 1 or 2 piece forged. 3 piece has a serviceable bead that can cause a slow leak. Granted it typically takes over 3 years for this to even start to fail if you need it re-sealed, but I'd rather not have to deal with it.
  2. I like rivets but are a pain to clean.
  3. If you're going custom, no staggered? Rears with 10.5" or larger look sweet.
  4. Any sensitivity on your FX for balancing, steering? Some are more prone to others, if so, I would go smaller than 10" in the front to reduce issues if so. If not, 10" is great.
  5. In case you ever want BBK later, make sure they clear the calipers you would "dream" of or want to get.
  6. For that price range, I'd buy iForged or HRE's used or new at a discount. Thanks to the Nissan GT-R, these wheels are hub centric to our FX's and can be found at many Nissan GT-R forums. A lot of the GT-R owners are rich and go through wheels like nothing and unload their used forged 22's for cheap. Offset typically isn't too bad and you get get a steal. Lots of used GT-R aftermarket wheels look like the designs you posted.
Good luck.

Was about to suggest the exact same thing, as beautiful as those wheels are up top, I don't think I could stomach curbing one of those lol. Here's a good example of a sweet 22" for an awesome price:

Good luck in the search and make sure to post those pics up when you find something

I'm running stock brakes for now. I just got them done at 60K service back in July, so will keep them for a while. I think down the road I will install BBK. I do have to specify to the manufacturer whether it needs accommodate BBK or not.

Thanks for the heads up about the serviceable beads. Never knew that. I will look into that, maybe they can do 2 piece and can be cheaper in price too. I was against doing staggered because of AWD. I know a few guys have done it with no issues. I just did not want to bother thinking about it. I would love to go maybe 10.5 in the rear, but again, didn't want to deal with the staggered setup. Ive browsed the NAGTROC site before and they have great deals on HREs etc. But the most of them are like 22x11, staggered. Plus a lot of the member like their wheels in black or gunmetal. Its very rare to see a silver/brushed setup for sale on their forums.

i like all of them. i voted for BC just because i like their center caps more...:band:

haha i know. i like the BC center caps the best too. its all in the little details....

Im thinking of jumping in the Interads. Still waiting on some other quotes and availability of the other wheels.

Wanted to bump two more pictures of the Interad Turismos. These are really growing on me.

What issues are you worried about staggered?

I just think for that much money, you should get the best look that you like -- if you like staggered do it. I personally would.

You just have to worry about tire diameter. If you even get 10" front width and 10.5" rear width, you can stretch the same tire on both most likely. Even 11" rear, depending on the tire they can accommodate 1" to 1.5" wheel width differences.

An extreme is Rookie's or Humberto's. It just looks sick with the huge rears.

If you are worried about rotating, if you get non-directional you can at least swap rears side to side. If you get directional, you can't swap at all.

I never had an issue with irregular tire wear.

I too love those Interad Turismos, so those get my vote.

3 Piece wheels and the beads failing aren't that bad. Both my sets of 3 piece wheels (HRE and IForged) leaked maybe 1-2 psi a week at most. The IForged were 5 years old at that point. Honestly at that price range I would check the pressure weekly in any case. Because I was using such low sidewalls with my IForged I kept the pressures high (45psi), IForged suggested above 40psi for my application (BMW M coupe on 19x9.5 front, and 19x10.5 rear).

I saw the beads on la_fx35's 22" OZs yesterday. Now I understand what that seal is about. Thanks for all the information about that. This is my first time getting into the 3 piece forged wheel arena.

Ed, I'm mainly concerned about the AWD getting screwed up. That's something I don't want to take a chance on. But may go 10.5" in the rear and 10" up front at the least. I'll try to keep the tire diameters similar as possible. Going to do +15 offset so I can ditch my 25mm spacers. Definitely going with the Turismos now. Also, going to take the plunge and get BC coilovers from Import image racing now as well. The H&R drop won't look right with 22"s and I know that gap will bother the heck out of me every time I look at it. Even with my OEM 20s there's a huge three finger gap.

:tup:Your FX gonna look really good with the Turismos and BC coilovers. Mind ordering me a set of the BC while you at it? No, just kidding. Glad you made up your mind.

Oh sweet, la_fx35 got the OZ's? Those are nice, just wished they were hub centric (without rings) for such an expensive MSRP wheel.

What I'm talking about is going same tire size front and rear, but different widths. Here is my dream setup.

22"x10" front +35 mm offset (30 mm farther out vs OEM setup)
22"x11" rear +48 mm offset (30 mm farther out vs OEM setup)

Front AND rear wrapped in 305/35/22. That is 30.4" total overall diameter for both front and rear, so you will have absolutely no AWD issues. Stock 265/50/20 is 30.43" so closest you can get to OEM diameter so speedometer will be almost identical. Note all tires have slightly different diameters but that is close enough. You still have a healthy sidewall at this tire setup, of 4.20 inches, so you will not suffer ride quality.

If you go BC and want to dial-in your dampening setting easily, I would get the extenders:
http://www.importimageracing.com/p/BC-Racing-BR-Series-Coilover-Rear-Extenders.html

The front is easy enough as popping your hood, but the rears will be hard to reach.

Don't forget to roll your fender in the rear, if you drop the rears that much, you most likely will rub with the aggressive offset you are looking for.

wow i would hate to be you! i don't think i could choose from just one set cuz they all would look hot on the fx:tonguey:
