Why not? Just keep the brake on. It would be the same thing as launching normally, but now you don't have to guess at the target RPM, and you can be full throttle from the start.
The stall speed of the torque converter, for one thing. The fact that its lower than the torque peak means that this "launch control" couldn't possibly help. Not only that, but normally you only have to release the brake (you can still floor the throttle). Adding a step is the opposite of what you want to do in that situation.
