2007 FX45 Cluster Work in an 04 FX35?

Hi Guys,

I have a US FX35 in Canada and wanted to change over the cluster to reflect KM instead of miles. I found someone selling an 2007 FX45 Cluster and he claims it will work in an 04 FX35. I don't think this guy is trying to pull a fast one on me but I just wanted to get confirmation. Has anyone tried chaging their cluster to the newer version? Are there any potential issues/problems? I noticed the faceplate is different...What is the general consensus on looks...Do you guys think the 07 cluster will look better than the 04?

Thanks

I did the later cluster, it lights up & looks cool, when it's off it looks cool too cause the numbers & everything kinda disapear & it just looks blank grey, it's more modern looking than the classic black & chrome look of the 03-05's

it will work, but you do have to add a power wire to it & you need to get the right one weather it has tech with radar cruise or not..., there interchangable but a non tech cluster in a tech packaged fx will loose the distance display.

My FX does not have the tech package so I guess It should be OK. How difficult is it to "add a power wire to it". I was hoping it was simply straight swap. I was told that the fx45 cluster has 2 lights for cruise control and that if putting this cluster in an fx35 one of these lights would also be lit. I guess the simple solutions would be disconnect that bulb.

the wire that needs to be added, check the "I see blue" thread, it's about changing the color of illumination in the earlier clusters but towards the end of that thread is info about adding the wire for the new style cluster, specifically which terminal it needs to be added to. it must be done or it won't even light up

never heard anything about the cruise lights issue, don't think there is any difference fx35-fx45 clusters

yeah, just take it all apart:tongue:

there are 4 10mm bolts going up from the bottom holding the complete pod , a phillips screwdriver & a 10mm socket with extension is all you really need, take the lower cover off unbolt the 4 screws from the bottom & it comes apart, harder to explain exact without having it in front of me but get under there & start removing screws, you'll figure it out, not so hard really...

I got the cluster out... What a pain ;-( I am sure I did something wrong cause it did not come out too easy. I plugged in the new cluster and as you said it did not light up. I will try to find a 12v wire and tap into it. I did notice that the "Cruise" light is on. Is there any easy way to disable it. I am hoping I don't have to take out the faceplate and access the LED. I am not comfortable taking out the needles and then reseating them.

oh, just saw this...

not sure why you have a cruise light on, I've had several different clusters in mine & never had an issue like that. mine is tech & I've tried tech & non tech, no cruise light problem... I think I remember one guy who had an issue like that from another country, at the time we thought it was a defect in the cluster, or at least that's what I guessed. he eventually sold it, either the org or ebay maybe...

could it be a problem maybe with the combo of non tech with tech cluster?

sorry for the thread revival...

so if my FX has tech package ,then I should look for a 06-08 tech cluster?

How can you tell the difference w/o powering it on?

The difference is in a part numbers. 24820-8Y70C - tech, 24820-8Y70D - non tech.

Looks like lucki knows everything. Even part #s off the top of his head :tongue (2):

LOL well just trying tone helpful, I actually got educated by Andrew (AeroBFA) about them letters ... I just looked up the numbers:driver:

I learned the hard way through trial and error on those clusters. My '04 had non tech, but I randomly bought one on eBay that was tech. It worked, but the orange cruise light stayed lit the whole time. So I had to buy another one with the other letter. Here is some more information that Andrew (la_fx35) found too:

Non-tech:
06-08: 24820-8Y70C

Tech:
06 35: 24820-CL70D
07-08 35: 24820-8Y70D
06 45: 24820-CL71B
07-08 45: 24820-8Y71B

Connect to the black wire. You can find this connector by the steering column near the knee area. This wire energize when key is in accessory, start & run position. The other side of the connector (red arrow) goes to the ignition switch.

I have a question for you guys:
Can the Infiniti dealer change the mileage to original one, if I'll swap them?
