Does everyone use screws to hold this in place? I have tried to do this mod before and I don't see how you could screw into the plastic with out going through to the metal, I might try this again ...any pics of the screws used

Has anyone tried updating to the whole 2006 center console/shifter panel? I'm referring to the whole panel with the seat warmer buttons, hazard.

^^^ I think turbocad did a swap of the dashboard, 06+ fitted better with his 10" tablet setup, but not sure if he did the howl console/shifter panel...

yes, you can do that....
it's not included, the shift knob is the same for pre and post face lifted Gen1.
I just received my 06 shifter. Couple of questions:
1- the shift lock cover, is that included usually with the shifter? I ordered the shifter from infiniti in Edmonton and just opened the box and found that the little plastic piece covering the shift lock is not included. Is an additional 15 bucks, on top of the $96.00 I paid for the shifter.
2- The shifter came with a wire and a light bulb at the end, however there are two slots for light bulbs at the back. Do I reuse the other one from the stock shifter or is one light enough? If both how do you wire both?

Hmmm can't chime in on the lock cover, mine came with it but that was a couple years ago.
As for the light bulb, I reused the one from the old one and the new one is powered from the same connector behind the ash tray, where the 'old' light bulb gets power. One is okay but 2 will definitely make it more bright and equally illuminate all letters.

It's a brown connector. And yes I tapped into it at the base of the connector and just ran it along the old wire using the existing anchors.
Didn't know there suppose to have a cover over it. The two that ordered didn't come with one. Is there suppose to have one? I thought the hole it's so small that you don't really need one. I reuse the one in the car and I also write the new bulb into the existing wire for more light on the shifter.

My 2008 has a cover over the hole. Will take a picture tomorrow and post.
Did you leave the orange cover on the bulb? Cause the new one doesn't have any cover just a halogen bulb.
Didn't get the chance to install today. Maybe tomorrow.

But ya I borrowed my friend's 06 FX yesterday. There's definitely a small cover on it, can't believe a small piece of shiiiitty plastic is 15 dollars. What a rip off.

I am currently trying to get this done. What are the recommended screw sizes to fit through the chrome holes? I can't seem to find one that will fit. If anyone remembers what size they used for the three holes, and for the black tabs it would be greatly appreciated!
