2003-2008 FX45 Modoholic WISH LIST

Do you think this is something we can do as a DIY? Port matching and smoothing? (It actually doesn't look that hard). I am definitely willing to do this on my own..

The hard part of match porting is doing the SAME thing to each runner. Considering we have no way to tailor the fuel delivery per cylinder, the perfect physical matching between cylinders is of utmost importance.

So those internal butterflies are spring actuated, right?

There is a level of science to the grind as Tim said, everything should be fairly closely matched. I do think it can be a DIY but it wasn't that expensive and I chose to have an expert deal with the process.

I would leave a true port job only to the pros. Personally, I wouldn't touch the butterflies or put a grinder to it. On the other hand, I'd probably be up all night with some sand paper working on those parting lines. I'd clean it up a bit a see how it goes before deciding how far to take it. As a DIY, I would not port or open up any dimensions aside from giving it a good polish job.

This is most likley the route I will take in the future. Another intake manifold Idea done on a VK, anyone know someone good with Sheetmetal work?

Not so strange if the build went badly or ran for a period of time and blew. I've tracked down three failed turbo VK', they sem to never run correctly and/or refuse to be tuned. We could learn something from the Japanese, they make the VK's work and workquite well.....

I was thinking that may be the case Lance, good call. To your knowledge has anyone had an adapter plate made for a roots blower? Or tried bolting up the one for the 56?

It's seems like a centrifugal would be easier. You'd just need brackets, fueling, and a tune.

Lance is right though, most F/I VK builds seem to fizzle out. It may just be the lack of willingness to dig in and see what needs to be done to make it realiable though. Keuylian (sp?) built 5 or so S/C Q45s, the bad part as they didn't doing anything but that, bolt on an S/C. It worked for a while, but then things went a bit crazy.

Thanks, couldn't find much info this is what's posted:
Cosworth designed, developed and validated a supercharger system to sit within the V formed by the engine cylinder configuration. The critical element was the requirement for the top of the supercharger to be no higher than the original normally aspirated variant of the engine. The completed design incorporated an off the shelf rotor pack to remain viable on costs and Cosworth also set up the entire supply chain to deliver volume product.

I Emailed them for more info, I'll let ya know when I hear back.

I like the words "volume product", that means tested and priced correctly (care to take a guess?) in my book. Waiting to hear what you hear.
