All of you 03-05 guys should get that later front fed plenum asap! You'll need the later intake tube (z-tube equivalent) as well but I bet you could get the TB harness to reach sans modifications.
Would this be because you are designing a Performance intake manifold for us too? I would have to come with the reality of loosing the MR, for a much more efficient and higher HP plenum. I could do this, but it would have to be feet over the head better than a ported and polished stock.
Can the MR be adapted to fit the newer 45 plenum?
Two reasons; First, flow potential aside, longer runners make more low end torque at the expense of top end HP. Second, he's a salesman.![]()
+ 1 on Tim's 45 intake assessment above. I think I addressed this (maybe in my garage) my tech went over the 45 head and intake designs (06+) with Jim Wolf and a Boeing engineer (that did the magnaflux check and microscope exam on my new head and valves). They all agreed the heads are very well designed and that the manifold is excellent with porting and polishing it will provide you with more flow than you will ever use. Next step would be FI.
Really if you could find an 06 manifold in a yard AND a TB (to port) you could mod them on the side then pull your oe units with no down time then start a member TB core exchange. That was my original Plan but as you know my build timing has gone sideways.
Both purchases with mods should be under 1k. With regards to the TB I am very near the testing stage (again). If you can wait two week you will have a solid write up to work off.
I am thinking of buying a spare M45 intake manifold, what kind of work do you recommend? Would a tune be required after? Anybody want to start some sort of service with the spare?
