Good list to start, Joe. You pretty much covered everything performance-wise I could think of for the 45 that is available to the 35. Pulley set definitely for #1!

One thing to note the manifold work I had done recently found many imperfections in the casting. Builder swears there are substantial gains to be found simply by cleaning up the existing unit.

I would like to get my upper manifold cleaned up for "cleaner" flow and polished on the outside for aesthetics, but have not researched where to get this done.

I'm not sure if a water pump lightweight pulley is feasible -- I have an OEM one in my garage and it's a really small diameter pulley. The gains wouldn't be worth the R&D.

Removing it all together and having an electric water pump would be ideal instead of a mechanical water pump.

Crank makes sense to me, easy to install and immediate pedal response.

Alternator, no idea on this one, all I know is I have a high-output one=)

Throttle body is a top air restriction... this mod would be nice.

A dream is a stroker kit to 6.0L....FX60. Custom crank would be what, $10,000? Forget it=)

Crank pulley: Definitely a plus.

Alternator pulley: My research lead me to believe that it is strictly eye candies when I was looking for pulleys for my FX35. I decided have it anyway just to give the engine bay a refresher.

Throttle Body: Got a chance to test out a bored throttle body, instant pedal feel and a seat in the pant, but was not reliable and it lit CEL after awhile.

I agree with Ed and Andy about the accessory pulleys - nice to look at but definitely not a performance mod. I weighed my "lightweight" set vs the stock versions and, to the nearest tenth of a pound, there was no difference. If there is some benefit to be had from moving the weight more toward the axis (the only possible benefit if there is no overall weight reduction) then it is exceedingly small.

Are the intake manifolds on the 45s cast iron or aluminum? I'm assuming its cast iron. I'm looking at DIY polishing kits and most of them are for aluminum.

What about the power steering pulley, any gains with going lightweight? Yeah the alt would be more or less a looks upgrade, the water pump would make sense to go electric, good thinking ED! We have a QX56 at the shop and was looking at how big the intake manifold was and It is composite. I'll take some pics and will post up here, anyone know off hand if it might bolt up? TB in in a different location (front) but our block is the same so maybe?

Thank YOU!

+1 on the pullies. Other than the crank, they really aren't necessary and could cause some drivability issues.

I've been saying we need spacers for a while now. Shouldn't be too much trouble to get them made.
