2003-2008 FX35 / FX45 Outer Tie Rod Replacement

Old Thread but..... I need to buy the passenger side outer tie rod?? any good suggestions on prices? websites?..
Short story. I bought the Deeza, part numbers were reversed. Liked the idea of the Zerks on the Deeza, but one grease boot split about a year later. Replaced both with Moogs from Rockauto.
I'd just do them both if I were you. Good luck.

Quick update!!!! I got my outer tie rod replaced and also both of my sway bars!! A local shopped charged me $75 to complete the job. I'm very happy because I am currently driving without any noise or annoying clunking sound. Thanks for all the help guys

might want to recheck your alignment if u havent already

It really depends, you cant just pick out a part and replace it. Usually they will start clunking or binding and thats when you should replace it. Everytime you align your car, the technician will let you know if you should replace it. I say over 100k miles the bushing on the outter tie rods start to crack and tear.. But if nothings wrong with it dont replace it

I just got my left and right outer tie rods delivered, and they dont have cotter pins or even holes drilled for cotter pins. They only have a locking nut. Will this be okay/safe? Im assuming it should be fine, but since the original has it i wasnt sure.
BTW they are MOOG from rockauto.com

Thanks for the help.

did you buy aftermarket tie rods? because oem has a normal nut with a hole drilled into tie rod thread.. Does ur setup have any castle nut or spindle lock nut?

To torque down the nut that site on the outer tie rod, what size socket do we need?

if i remember correctly i used a 19mm socket for the nut on the outter tie rod end and a 22mm open end wrench for the locknut

Ive got some information to share. Im changing the outer tierods on my 2006 fx35. And got the original ones. I received part numbers
D8F40-CG80A for the passenger RF
D8E20-CG80A for the driver side LF
Weird thing is the drivers side LF has an "R" stamped on it. & the passenger side RF has an "L" stamped on it. I double checked with infiniti & the part numbers check out. Is this the way infiniti does it? Has anyone run into this scenario?

I wouldn't sweat it. Just match the kinks with what you're taking off. Same thing happened with the Deezas I bought. They weren't labeled L/R, but the single part I bought for left was def for right, so I picked up the mate and changed them both.

I changed my inner and outer tie rods in April with ome parts and I received the same thing as you it's working fine

Had this in my aftermarket tie rods. A mechanic told me the L and R indicate which way the nut tightens or loosens .... The l&r do not mean left or right tie rod...according to him ...
