I just can't get past the front end of the 09. It looks like the mouth of a fish (but not in a good way). The sport seats are nice though.

Exactly my sentiment. I will wait for the 3rd Gen FX55S,:laugh::laugh::rofl: and hope they close that mouth.

Having a 2005 FX45, I wouldn't run out to trade it in for a 2nd gen FX. Like some have mentioned above, I'm not a big fan of the way the front end looks. If I didn't have one and was in the market for one, I'd look at the second gen. Power is great on the first gen 35/45s, and they kicked it up a notch in the second gen. G2 FX35 acceleration is slightly faster than the 1st gen FX45! And the FX50's 0 to 60 time is 5.1 sec.

Some G2 owners have complained that the 7sp transmission tends to hunt around too much for the right gear (if you leave it in auto mode) in city and in stop and go traffic.

Here is my opinion

I leased the 2007 FX35 for two years and three months. Fell in love with the car. Gear change was smooth and crisp, and the muffler gave out a beautiful note everytime i stepped on the gas, even just a little bit. The transmission is always on point. The car is really responsive. While cruising, just give the car a little bit of gas, the car would accelerate. Since I love the 07 so much, I've decided to return it and stick with infiniti and get he 09 FX35.

Ooooooh, BAD IDEA!!!! Besides the fact that the interior and exterior of the 09 looks a lot better, and the fact that the 09 has an ipod adapter, nothing in the 09 makes it better than the 07. Instead, it is a WORSE CAR!!!!

I had my 09 for a couple months now and have approximately 2000 miles on it. The car feels slow. The exhaust note, I can barely hear it, and the transmission. Oooh, the transmission just pisses me off. It searches for gears, it is never on point, and it makes my car really unpredictable. Sometimes when i gas it, VROOOM, RPM shoots up, on other times, I gas it... huh... no response, as if my foot haven't stepped down on the pedal. Well, lemme give it another inch, VROOOM!!! RPM revs up... gees this is not what i wanted, i just wanted to go from 60-70, don't need to downshift!

Further, what also pisses me off about the new tranny, is that when i am slowing down without stepping on the brakes, the transmission decides on its own, without my consent, to downshift to slow the car down faster. It annoys the crap out of me. I have also felt a couple of hard downshifts.

Well, this Saturday, I am bringing in my car to get the tranny reprogrammed. I have heard from another thread in this forum that it is a huge difference. I pray that it will be a huge difference. If not!! ARghz, I am stuck with this car.

I will update this post after I get my car reprogramed. Please stay tuned.

Thank You.

I said 09 in the Poll, and love mine.

KFL2006, I think you will be MUCH happier after the flash.... will be surprised if you aren't. Mine is great.

Had the 09 up on my laptop screen for at least a month, it looked good. Held back on spending the extra dollars (Just bought a new MDX for my lovely wife and needed some remodeling dollars) and bought a 2006 (wanted the subtle changes that came with the 06). Recently had a couple small things done to the car at the Infiniti dealership and as I walked around the lot looking at the 09's they left me cold....can't put my finger on it but IMO the new model seems too over worked, the previous body seems more muscular/brutish. I guess I dig the less polished look.

Agreed

I have to agree, that despite the fact that I am driving an '09 FX35, I concur with the previous comments: The front of the new FX does look like the 'face of a fish' and the side vents are horrible. Very cheap looking, almost as if they were slapped on and not painted (or something). Especially bad in any dark color.

What is Infiniti thinking .... ???

But that said, the interior of the car is stellar! And the drive is solid. More so then my previous 2006 FX35.

Oh well ...

I went thru a similar decision when we got the 09 FX35. There weren't too many 07 45s available when we bought our 09.

Here is my feelings on the two. If I could have mixed the exterior styling of the 45 and the interior layout of the 09 35, it would be the perfect car (I know we don't live in a perfect world).

I still have my 06 G35 coupe and the exhaust note on the new FX is not as deep. The additional HP and torque would be nice to have as well. The coupe is paid off and in a couple of years I'll definitely be looking for a used FX50s :)

As others have stated the seats, technology and layout of the 09 interior is great! The exterior has grown on me but I still love the 1st gen :) I've had the tranny reflash done and the car is a lot more fun to drive! Tranny is more responsive, no delay when you punch the gas and down/up shifts are very smooth.

It's a hard decision but I think you'll be happy either way.

45 = HP/Torque, Exterior and Exhaust note
09 35 = Interior layout and technology

+1 interior and tech 09'
09 does not look good without the 21" wheels IMO. It is a must to paint the vents the same color as the car as well. I love the tranny in my 04' so that 09' fx35 7spd issue sounds like a problem. I would choose the 09' only if that flash works, you can fix the exhaust note with relatively cheap mods.

Flash totally works.

It looks like the mouth of a fish (but not in a good way). The sport seats are nice though.
I know what you mean... Aston Martin? Pulled it off miraculously. It looks like a pissed off largemouth bass. The G2 FX looks like a largemouth bass out of water desperately gasping for air.

Aside from the tranny though, the G2 FX35 is refined in every other aspect and is much nicer of a vehicle overall. Since you appreciate the looks, the only downside is this tranny that people complain about gear hunting all the time... I'd stick around for an update from KFL.

One last solution is to always go manual mode.

When I was looking for an FX I was going for the 1st Gen, I always loved them. When I looked at the 2nd Gen I too was not crazy about the front end, but I absolutely loved everything else about it's styling, then I took one out. OMG it was a must have there was no comparison, I put in my order, I am loving it and I am getting used to the front end, everything else makes up for it.
In the end all FXs are SWEEEEET:tup:

i don't know what it is about the 2nd gen. from most angles it's awesome, but, every once in a while, i catch a glimpse of one and i can't stand it. i'd still own one though.
