12/2/07: Toys for Tots Car Show @ Cali Speedway

Ya, I was at the site earlier, & saw that list of rides. Nonetheless, people still like to see the FX toy around the turns . . & then they always have questions. When it's lowered, it is always underated, or people just have no idea the level of performance for such a big & heavy vehicle.
I'll call them & find out whats up.

Im excited to see you guys run on the track - someone do a on-board camera or something that would be cool!

Goto Berts Megamall and get yourself a cheapy motorcycle helmet for $40 (it is DOT approved). Your gonna need to replace you tires anyways - theres a great price on rotorpro rotors and brake pads.....so theres no reason you shouldnt!
Hey guys, wow this thread got long fast.

If you want to participate in the track event I don't think they will allow you to use a motorcycle helmet. I forget the different ratings, but IIRC motorcycle helmets are only rated for a single impact, where racing helmets are rated for multiple impacts. Long story short, there's a chance they will not let you on the track if you only have a motorcycle helmet.

For the car show - should I be expecting a Widebody VS Lambo Door? That would be hella crazy......or better yet a TT Widebody VS a SC Lambo Doors? :err:

" 3) Autocross: Not comfortable with doing 140mph on the track, and the car show is too sedentary for you? Then try your hand at autocross. No special equipment necessary, although a helmet is required (and can be rented). One driver at a time negotiates a course laid out with the cones, testing their skill against the clock. Time penalties are charged for disturbing cones. $80 for all day runs, including Time Attack competition. All skill levels and ages permitted, with valid driver's license. "

Less extensive than 5 runs of 1/2 hour each. I dont feel like driving thaaat much . . & you dont have to worry about anyone else wrecking you. Getting on a track with a bunch of Hi. Perf. cars? Doesnt sound like too much fun, if you're always looking for people to pass you, & you have to give up the preferred line all the time. Just some thoughts.

Yea, I read more into the event and saw there was a difference in the road course and the autocross which I didn't realize at first. Still would be fun to do. Have to make a decision on which way to go.

We'd sure like to see a major FX presence at the Toys4Tots Charity Car Show on December 2nd. While there you can sign up (on either the 1st or 2nd for the Auto-X event, or the High Performance Driving Course--presented by Nissan Sport Editor-in-Chief (and SCCA instructor) David Muramoto and Nissan Sport Senior Editor Ed Reeser (Eagel1)--some may get rides in Ed's TT G35 Coupe. The way the event is set up you could do all three over the two days.

Check out our events section... www.nissansportmag.com or www.nissanperformancefest.com

I hope everyone can make it out. I know most are not into the show scene but this event has a FX class which is awesome, I won't be competing so please come out and show off what the FX community has. You'd be surprised how many people are admirers of our beloved FXs.

you mean I actually might have a chance to win something if I compete......:laugh:

I will try to make it out there

For sure I will NOT be competing. I'll go to hang out and what not, maybe be in someones booth or something.

I want you all to be out there!

Ha ha, I'm guessing this sounds like a vague description of me and rookie?

First of all, I'm not competing - I'm hosting.

Secondly, there's really no contest car-show wise between me and rookie. My first show I went in with rims and a sound system, just to get visibility for the FX out there. Rookie really has taken this to a level beyond anything I ever thought of, and he knows how much I admire the things he's done with his vehicle. No fight here.

You guys really should come out and show off your FX pride! I know based on the comments I used to get when going to shows that people really enjoy seeing what's done to our cars.

Hey guys... stopping by to post some updates (and clarifications)

1) We want to thank the following sponsors who recently signed on to make T4T07 special for everyone:

http://www.magnaflow.com - 1 free catback exhaust for any car, except diesel or vettes
Vision Autosport of Hacienda Heights - Parts for raffle!
Street Image of Baldwin Park - Parts for raffle!

2) We've had a lot of questions in regards to the Autocross:

The autocross course will be set in an infield parking lot at California
Speedway and will be designed as much as possible to SCCA standards by an
experienced course designer. Course length will be approximately 35-40
seconds with a top speed of 50-60 mph. It would be comparable to a Pro Solo
course. Drivers can expect to get 10+ runs on the course. A timing system will be also be in place. Autocross is $80 and requires a helmet (motorcycle helmets are acceptable for autox)

3) High Performance Driving Experience, or HPDE, aka TRACK aka ROVAL
Yes, you can drive your car on the racetrack. Here is what the course looks like:

sun_roval.jpg

Medium size groups of 35 cars get four 20 minute runs for $195
Smaller groups of 30 cars get will have five 24 minute runs for $295.
Price includes ride-alongs, classroom training, and all you can stomach autocross/time attack competition. It doesn't sound like a lot of time, but you will be exhausted by the end of the day, guaranteed!

You need a SNELL approved helmet to run on the track, and rentals are available (please note in the comments during registration if you will need one.. they run around $20)

4) Speed Ventures, our track/autocross partner will also be providing every T4T07 car show participant a $25 gift certificate good for a future Speed Ventures track event.
