Tire Balance Problems with Pirelli Scorpion's (275/45/21)

Ever since I had the Pirelli Scorpion's (275/45/21) put on the FX50 I've been having tire balance issues.

I've been to Discount Tire today for the 5th time. Each time they come out perfect and then about a day or two later I notice slight vibrations at highway speeds, almost as if a weight comes off (but the weights remain).

Each time I have brought it in they did a calibration and road test to make sure it's perfect. I can attest to that because soon afterwards from 0 to whatever mph it's smooth like butter. But for some reason after 1-5 days I start noticing vibrations. at least one of those times it felt abrupt on the highway like as if a weight fell off but that was only once it felt like that. Today when I brought it in, they noticed one was out of balance by 2 ounces which is a lot and another by 0.75. Previous times it was off by about 2 ounces as well. Multiple people looked at it and verified no weights fell off. None of them have seen anything like this where it's balanced perfect, after a few days it gets out of balance so much even when all the weights are there. Rims look okay and haven't had problems before I switched to new tires.

Now I'm thinking maybe it's the fact that instead of getting the Bridgestones that are 265, I wonder if these Pirellis can lead to balance problems. The vibrations are not much but I notice it slightly just because before it was complete butter. Maybe the other FX50s who have gotten these tires on the forum have not really noticed a slight vibration

What did you do to your FX QX70 today?

Any thoughts on what may be getting these new tires out of balance so fast? With my previous Bridgestone, I literally went 2-3 years without rebalancing. Never needed to even with Michigan potholes.

that is weird... I've had my pirelli's for almost 2 months now and driven past 80mph for a good 50 miles and never felt any vibrations.. It was a lot smoother than the bridgestones.. maybe u just got a bad batch? is it possible to contact where u got your tires purchased from and see if you can get a replacement?

Discount Tire said next time they are willing to do that, but even if it's a bad batch I don't see how it's possible unless the tires don't fit the rim well enough and move or something. They said the tire pressure is dead on and hasn't changed from every single balancing.

I'm running Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric SUV XL in 275/45 21 and have no issues. Been running them since 2014 and have put about 15k on them and at speeds upwards of 100mph. It's possible it's a tire issue but just in case you may want to have them check for other potential issues (alignment, loose components, etc).

I am running Michelin Latitude Sport 275/45R21 with zero vibration issues & was over 110mph a week or so ago :p

I have the Pirelli's on mine for a few months/thousand's miles also with no issues. You didnt use any fix-a-flat in any of the tires since getting them did you?

Not running any spacers right? Torquing lugs to proper specs?

Hmm. I am running with the same Pirelli tires with H&R spacers in the rear (7K on the setup now) and they fit and run perfectly. Any update?

Discount Tires replaced all 4 with new Pirelli 275 all season scorpians. I've only driven on the highway once since then and seemed good, but it's usually after a few times that I notice so I should know in about 2 weeks.

I had the same issue with my el cheapo tires. Perfect balance setup and they'd run out of balance and began cupping. Tires were out of true. Sometimes it really is the tires, frustrating.

No vibration issues with my 275 pirelli scorpions yet, but I've only been on them for a little over a month. Interested to see how your new replaced tires hold up.
